Ontem, meio sem querer encontrei no NOW, o filme inglês THE DUKE.
O filme, dirigido por Roger Michell (do notável NOTTING HILL), é baseado na história real do sessentão Kempton Bunton, que furtou o quadro do Duque de Wellington, pintado por Francisco Goya, da National Gallery, para obrigar o Governo a dar maior assistência aos idosos.
O filme é encantador. O fascínio da história real de Bunton, a total falta de sensibilidade das autoridades, a ingenuidade dele, o assombro dos familiares, tudo é genuíno de delicioso de ser ver em outro belo filme de Michell.
Para protagonizar sua história, o diretor escolheu dois atores de primeira linha. Helen Mirren e Jim Broadbent são um espetáculo à parte. O casal de sexagenários ingleses que eles criam tem uma veracidade impressionante. Puro talento na arte de representar.
O elenco ainda tem Heather Craney, James Wilby, Matthew Goode, Richard McCabe e Cliff Burnett.
O humanismo das intenções de Bunton e a pureza com que ele se revela às autoridades é emocionante. Coisa rara de se ver.
Os produtores, como cereja do bolo, ainda conseguiram licença para usar uma cena de O SATÂNICO DR. NO, primeiro filme de 007 em uma cena chave de O DUQUE.
Um filme que se recomenda a todos os públicos. Maravilhoso.
Yesterday, by accident I found the English film THE DUKE on NOW.
The film, directed by Roger Michell (of the notable NOTTING HILL), is based on the true story of the sixty-year-old Kempton Bunton, who stole the painting of the Duke of Wellington, painted by Francisco Goya, from the National Gallery, to force the Government to give greater assistance to the elderly.
The film is charming.
The fascination of Bunton’s real story, the total lack of sensitivity of the authorities, his naivety, the astonishment of his family members, everything is genuinely delicious to see in another beautiful film by Michell.
To star in his story, the director chose two top actors. Helen Mirren and Jim Broadbent are a sight to behold. The English couple of sixty-year-olds they create has an impressive veracity. Pure talent in the art of acting.
The cast still has Heather Craney, James Wilby, Matthew Goode, Richard McCabe and Cliff Burnett.
The humanism of Bunton’s intentions and the purity with which he reveals himself to the authorities is thrilling. Rare thing to see.
The producers, as the icing on the cake, managed to get a license to use a scene from THE SATAN DR. NO, the first 007 film in a key scene from THE DUKE.
A film that is recommended to all audiences. Amazing.
