Vi ontem o episódio final da segunda temporada de THE CAPTURE, a série britânica que foca os perigos da super tecnologia invasiva a serviço de governos e forças de segurança.
Holliday Grainger, jovem atriz inglesa (que também estrela a ótima série C.B. STRIKE) dá um novo show como a policial DCI Rachel Carey, inconformada com o programa de governo CORRECTION que altera vídeos e áudios a seu bel prazer.
O pavor dos vídeos do deep fake, que podem “inventar” qualquer texto, entrevistas ou vídeos de vigilância atinge seu máximo nesta segunda temporada.
O excelente elenco, contando ainda com Indira Varma, Ben Miles, Ron Perlman, Paapa Essiedu, Lia Williams e Joseph Arkley tem atuações ótimas dando credibilidade aos personagens que o roteiro cria.
É verdade que a trama tem vários twists e descaminhos, com um enredo bastante complexo.
Mas além do visual fascinante (as entrevistas falsas criadas via deep fake são incríveis), a história deixa para nossa reflexão um futuro próximo (ou presente) assustador. Até onde podem ir governos e forças de segurança no conflito com os direitos individuais e com a verdade?

Yesterday I saw the final episode of the second season of THE CAPTURE, the British series that focuses on the dangers of invasive super technology in the service of governments and security forces.
Holliday Grainger, a young English actress (who also stars in the great series C.B. STRIKE) gives a new show as the DCI police officer Rachel Carey, dissatisfied with the CORRECTION government program that changes videos and audios at will.
The fear of deep fake videos, which can “invent” any text, interviews or surveillance videos, reaches its maximum in this second season.
The excellent cast, including Indira Varma, Ben Miles, Ron Perlman, Paapa Essiedu, Lia Williams and Joseph Arkley, has great performances giving credibility to the characters that the script creates.
It is true that the plot has several twists and turns, with a very complex plot.
But beyond the fascinating look (the fake interviews created via deep fake are incredible), the story leaves a scary near future (or present) for our reflection. How far can governments and security forces go in conflict with individual rights and the truth?

Hopefully DCI Carey will return for a third season.
