Depois de vários amigos me recomendarem, fui ver EMILY THE CRIMINAL, filme independente dirigido por John Patton Ford, em exibição no Amazon Prime.
A trama mostra uma jovem americana endividada com um empréstimo para pagar a faculdade que vive pressionada pela dívida e trabalha em uma empresa de entrega de refeições.
Uma amiga que trabalha em uma agência de publicidade sempre lhe promete uma vaga por lá, mas a tentativa termina em uma desastrada entrevista.
Emily (ótimo trabalho da atriz Aubrey Plaza) por acaso recebe uma proposta para ganhar duzentos dólares fazendo um serviço para uma gang de clonagem e fraude de cartões de crédito. Ela aceita e inicia uma vida no submundo, onde a volta vai ser quase impossível.
O filme de Ford é muito bem narrado e muitas vezes assume uma câmera nervosa que simula quase um documentário sobre os infortúnios de Emily.
O envolvimento com o marginal Youcef (Theo Rossi) somente afunda mais Emily na vida de criminosa.
Gostei bastante da narrativa tensa do filme. Acho que o clima criado foi um tiro certeiro do diretor, elenco e roteiristas.
EMILY THE CRIMINAL é um drama sempre interessante. Como a vida criminosa da protagonista, não tem um só momento de tédio.

The plot shows a young American woman in debt with a college loan who lives under debt pressure and works at a meal delivery company.
A friend who works at an advertising agency always promises her a job there, but the attempt ends in a disastrous interview.
Emily (great work by actress Aubrey Plaza) happens to receive a proposal to earn two hundred dollars doing a job for a cloning and credit card fraud gang. She accepts and starts a life in the underworld, where going back will be almost impossible.
Ford’s film is very well narrated and often takes on a nervous camera that almost simulates a documentary about Emily’s misfortunes.
The involvement with the marginal Youcef (Theo Rossi) only sinks Emily further into the life of a criminal.
I really enjoyed the film’s tense narrative. I think the climate created was a clear shot by the director, cast and writers.
EMILY THE CRIMINAL is an always interesting drama. Like the main character’s criminal life, there isn’t a single tedious moment.
