SHAMPOO: Filme de Hal Ashby Envelheceu Mas Segue Interessante

Ontem, por algum mistério da natureza, dei de cara no Looke, com o filme SHAMPOO, que Hal Ashby dirigiu em 1975.

Um cabelereiro de ricas e famosas se faz passar por gay para poder estar à vontade com as beldades sem enfrentar o ciúme dos maridos. O enredo soa bem ingênuo hoje, mas em 1975 era quase escandaloso.

Warren Beaty se dividia entre as camas de Julie Christie (linda como sempre), Goldie Hawn e Lee Grant. Ainda sobrava tempo para um flerte com Carrie Fischer pré Princesa Leia.

As confusões chegam ao clímax em um jantar de republicanos para comemorar a eleição do Presidente Richard Nixon, uma noite de muita bebida, cabelos esvoaçantes, vestidos luxuosos e situações sexualmente vexatórias.

Hoje, olhando o filme de Ashby (que foi um excelente cineasta, autor de filmes como MUITO ALÉM DO JARDIM e A ÚLTIMA MISSÃO) ele parece meio inocente e nada transgressor como parecia na época de seu lançamento.

Mesmo assim, o fascínio do elenco e o talento indiscutível do diretor seguram a atenção do espectador.

SHAMPOO é uma viagem no tempo a 1975.

A hairdresser for the rich and famous pretends to be gay in order to be comfortable with the beauties without facing the jealousy of their husbands.

The plot sounds pretty naive today, but in 1975 it was almost scandalous.

Warren Beaty split between the beds of Julie Christie (beautiful as ever), Goldie Hawn and Lee Grant. There was still time for a pre-Princess Leia Carrie Fischer flirtation.

The confusion comes to a climax at a Republican dinner to celebrate the election of President Richard Nixon, a night of heavy drinking, flowing hair, luxurious dresses and sexually vexatious situations.

Today, looking at Ashby’s film (who was an excellent filmmaker, author of films like BEING THERE and THE LAST DETAIL) it seems kind of innocent and not at all transgressive as it did at the time of its release.

Even so, the fascination of the cast and the director’s indisputable talent hold the viewer’s attention.

SHAMPOO is a time travel to 1975.
