Hoje o cineasta e produtor australiano George Miller está fazendo 78 anos.
Ele entrou no radar do show business internacional em 1979, quando escreveu e dirigiu o cult movie MAD MAX. O jovem ator desconhecido Mel Gibson interpretava um policial rodoviário australiano que, depois de ver sua família brutalmente assassinada, partia para a vingança.
O sucesso foi tão grande que em 1981, veio o segundo capítulo THE ROAD WARRIOR, outra vez com Mel Gibson vivendo o. policial em um mundo pós-apocalíptico. Sucesso ainda maior.
Foi com Max que ele atingiu outro pico em MAD MAX E A CÚPULA DO TROVÃO, de 1985, com Mel Gibson e Tina Turner. Era um filme com muito mais recursos de produção e talvez seja o melhor de todos.
Miller ainda seu deu ao luxo de produzir a série HAPPY FEET (êta pinguinzinho lindo) e o multipremiada BABE, sobre um porquinho sapeca.
George Miller ainda dirigiu filmes importantes como LORENZO’S OIL e AS BRUXAS DE EASTWICK.
Já septuagenário, em 2015, voltou ao deserto australiano no elogiado MAD MAX : FURY ROAD, onde Max foi interpretado pelo ótimo Tom Hardy e surgiu a personagem de Furiosa, vivida pela sul-africana Charlize Theron. Novo sucesso mundial.
Miller hoje trabalha no filme FURIOSA, uma retomada da personagem, agora vivida por Anya-Taylor Joy. Tom Burke está com ela.
