As sátiras de filmes eram o ponto alto da revista.
Mas a capa de trás invariavelmente trazia uma “dobradinha”.
Eram desenhos do genial cartunista Al Jaffee que uma vez dobrados, revelavam uma coisa completamente diferente do que a capa parceria trazer.
Era espetacular. Marcou época.
Ontem, Al Jaffee morreu, aos 102 anos. Deve estar aprontando no céu.
In my teens, one of the unavoidable habits was buying MAD magazine, at Newsstand of Praça da Alfândega, in the historic center of Porto Alegre.
Movie skits were the highlight of the magazine.
But the back cover invariably had a “fold-in”.
They were drawings by the brilliant cartoonist Al Jaffee that, once folded, revealed something completely different than what the plain cover brings.
It was spectacular. It marked the era.
Yesterday, Al Jaffee died, aged 102. He must be up to fun in heaven.
