Ainda me assusto quando leio notícias como os 50 anos do lançamento de BANZÉ NO OESTE, filme que Mel Brooks dirigiu no distante ano de 1974.

Produtor, Diretor, Roteirista e Ator Mel Brooks, hoje com 98 anos, é uma figura icônica do humor norte americano, tendo feito de tudo no show business, como mostra sua atraente biografia.
O “eu” adolescente saiu do cinema encantado com a subversão de todos os clichês do cinema por Brooks. O filme tinha pistoleiros, índios, Klu Klux Klan, políticos corruptos, moças de passado duvidoso, saloons, heróis e vilões a granel. Mas também tinha ácidas críticas ao racismo estrutural, nazistas, surpresas ao espectador, tudo de forma muito criativa e extremamente bem humorada.
Na mina opinião, O JOVEM FRANKENSTEIN, que Mel Brooks rodou dois anos depois de BLAZING SADDLES (SELAS FLAMEJANTES, o título original do filme) é sua obra prima, um filme que beira à perfeição.
BANZÉ NO OESTE chega perto. Tem uma inacreditável quantidade de gags de humor diferenciado. A gente ri muito vendo as fotos do filme.
A turma de Mel Brooks esta quase toda no elenco: Gene Wilder, Madeline Khan, Clevon Little, Slim Pickens, Harvey Korman, Alex Kärras e companhia. Faltou apenas Marty Feldman.

Producer, Director, Screenwriter and Actor Mel Brooks, now 98 years old, is an iconic figure of North American humor, having done everything in show business, as his attractive biography shows.
The teenage me left the cinema enchanted by Brooks’ subversion of all the clichés of cinema. The film had gunmen, Indians, the Klu Klux Klan, corrupt politicians, girls with questionable pasts, saloons, heroes and villains galore. But it also had harsh criticisms of structural racism, Nazis, surprises for the viewer, all in a very creative and extremely humorous way.
In my opinion, YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN, which Mel Brooks shot two years after BLAZING SADDLES (the original title of the film) is his masterpiece, a film that borders on perfection.
BLAZING SADDLES comes close. It has an unbelievable amount of unique humor gags. We laugh a lot when we see the photos from the film.
Almost all of Mel Brooks’ gang is in the cast: Gene Wilder, Madeline Khan, Clevon Little, Slim Pickens, Harvey Korman, Alex Kärras and company. The only thing missing is Marty Feldman.
Rewatching BLAZING SADDLES, 50 years later, we once again visit the genius of Mel Brooks. More than just a filmmaker with an incredible sense of humor, Brooks is a comedic genius, which was already evident in the episodes of GER SMART, the funniest TV series of all time.
Mel Brooks is an immortal genius.
