Os criadores da série de sucesso SUITS resolveram dar vida a um spin-off para valorizar ainda mais a personagem Jessica Pearson, a Sócia Diretora do mega escritório de Nova Iorque onde ocorrem as estrepulias entre advogados. A séie se chama PEARSON e estreou esta semana no USA (disponível por enquanto no ITunes e na Amazon Prime Video).
Gina Torres, premiada atriz americana de origem Cubana, faz a protagonista Jessica Pearson que recém foi expulsa da Bar Association e que se mudou para Chicago, para se reaproximar da família. Chegando lá ela recebe um surpreendente convite do atual Prefeito (em campanha para a reeleição) para integrar seu Gabinete.
Os motivos e os problemas em que o Prefeito está envolvido vão dar um perfeito pano de fundo para a série que aposta em ser muito mais um thriller político (no estilo HOUSE OF CARDS) do que mais uma série sobre advogados. as intrigas políticas, alianças, conchavos e estratégias complicadas do meio são o prato cheio, ao menos neste primeiro episódio.
Além de Gina Torres, no elenco estão a atriz Bethany Joy Lenz (vista em COLONY e GREY’S ANATOMY), o inglês Simon Kassianides (de 007 QUANTUM OF SOLACE), Eli Goree(RACE) e Wayne Duvall (LINCOLN, de Steven Spielberg) vivendo um juiz com práticas duvidosas.
PEARSON já teve dez episódios realizados, mas o grande empenho comercial do Canal USA em divulgá-lo e o atual momento de valorização das protagonistas mulheres leva a crer que o seriado vai emplacar.
Tomara que vá em frente porque, pelo que mostrou até agora vai ter muita qualidade ao escanear o sistema político de uma grande cidade.
The creators of the hit SUITS decided to bring a sin-off to life to further enhance the character of Jessica Pearson, the Managing Partner of New York’s mega-law firm. The series is called PEARSON and debuted this week in the USA Channel (available for now on ITunes and Amazon Prime Video).
Gina Torres, an award-winning Cuban-born American actress, stars as Jessica Pearson, who has just been expelled from the Bar Association and has moved to Chicago to reconnect with her family. Once there she receives a surprising invitation from the current Mayor (campaigning for reelection) to join his cabinet.
The reasons and problems the Mayor is involved in will give the perfect backdrop to the series that bets on being much more a political thriller (in the style of HOUSE OF CARDS) than another series on lawyers. The political intrigues, alliances and complicated middle strategies are full plate, at least in this first episode.
In addition to Gina Torres, actress Bethany Joy Lenz (seen in COLONY and GREY’S ANATOMY), Englishman Simon Kassianides (from 007 QUANTUM OF SOLACE), Eli Goree (RACE) and Wayne Duvall (LINCOLN, by Steven Spielberg) living a judge with dubious practices.
PEARSON has already ten episodes, but the great commercial commitment of USA Channel to publicize it and the current moment of valorization of the female protagonists leads to believe that the series will take a great place.
Hopefully it will go on because, from what you have shown so far, it will have a lot of quality when scanning the political system of a big city.
