Dia destes passei na Tv a Cabo por um thriller que o cineasta australiano Phillip Noyce (PERIGO REAL E IMEDIATO e O CAÇADOR DE OSSOS) fez em 1989, contando a história de um casal que vai fazer uma longa viagem de barco para esquecer a perda de uma filha e se depara com um náufrago psicopata à deriva no mar.
A viagem de reencontro vira uma tragédia sem fim, com o maluco tentando por todas as formas assassinar o marido e ficar com a bela viúva (na imaginação dele).
Embora o primeiro nome do elenco fosse o ótimo ator Sam Neil (JURASSIC PARK), a maior atração era uma jovem atriz nascida há 22 anos atrás em Honolulu, Havaí, mas que tinha sido educada na Austrália. A lina e altiva jovem era Nicole Kidman, anos depois ganhadora do Oscar por seu trabalho em AS HORAS. O louquinho de plantão era Billy Zane, uma ator que jamais se firmou no cinema ou na TV.
