THE MANDALORIAN, a primeira série STAR WARS, carro chefe do recém lançado serviço de streaming DISNEY+ chegou a seu quinto episódio nesta semana. Vem agregando, episódio a episódio, ótimos elementos novos que fazem sua excelência e atratividade crescerem a olhos vistos.
Por exemplo, no time de cineastas reunido pelo idealizador e criador da série, John Favreau (IRONMAN, SPIDERMAN), justificadamente um dos queridinhos da MARVEL/DISNEY estão o super competente diretor neo-zelandês Taka Waititi (do muito aguardado e polêmico filme satírico sobre o nazismo estrelado por Scarlett Johansson, JOJO RABBIT) e a atriz Bryce Dallas Howard (a ruivinha de JURASSIC PARK, MANDERLEY e HISTÓRIAS CRUZADAS), aqui se aventurando a um exercício de direção mais forte depois de comandar alguns curtas e documentários. A série vem servindo, pois, para mostrar o trabalho de alto nível de jovens cineastas.
O melhor, contudo, segue sendo a propositada e excepcional aproximação do enredo com os filmes clássicos de faroeste. A jornada do mercenário MANDALORIAN (que vai se humanizando capítulo a capítulo) em busca do Baby Yoda e, após, sua proteção aquele bebê alvo de todo tipo de perseguições e tentativas de assassinato pelos caçadores de recompensa mais violentos da galáxia, tem momentos comoventes. A batalha do protagonista (auxiliados por um extraordinário grupo de mandalorians voadores, no resgate do Baby Yoda, de um exército dos personagens de Werner Herzog e Carl Weathers, no epiósdio 4, foi cena top de linha.
O episódio 5 trouxe a pioneira do MMA feminino Gina Carano como uma ex-soldado que ajuda o MANDOLORIAN a proteger uma comunidade de fazendeiros ameaçada por um grupo de bandidos que têm um walker do Império (aquelas máquinas de guerra que andam sobre duas pernas de metal e têm armas a granel). O roteiro bebe tudo que pode de filmes clásicos do western como OS BRUTOS TAMBÉM AMAM e O CAVALEIRO SOLITÁRIO.
Para mim, THE MANDALORIAN já se justificou e cada vez mais vai achando seu lugar de destaque na mitologia STAR WARS. É uma série de excelência e merece muito ser vista. E, de quebra, lançou o Baby Yoda, a sensação do ano no entretenimento.
THE MANDALORIAN, the first STAR WARS series, the flagship of the newly released DISNEY+ streaming service has reached its fifth episode this week. It’s been adding, episode by episode, great new elements that make its excellence and attractiveness grow a lot.
For instance, on the team of filmmakers gathered by the show’s creator and guru, John Favreau (IRONMAN, SPIDERMAN), justifiably one of MARVEL/ DISNEY’s darlings we have the super-competent New Zealand director Taka Waititi (from the much-anticipated and controversial satirical Nazi film starring Scarlett Johansson, JOJO RABBIT) and actress Bryce Dallas Howard (the redhead of JURASSIC PARK, MANDERLEY and THE HELP), here venturing into a stronger directing exercise after commanding some shorts and documentaries. The series has thus served to showcase the high level work of young filmmakers.
The best, however, remains the purposeful and exceptional approach of the plot to classic Western movies. The journey of the mercenary MANDALORIAN (which is humanizing chapter by chapter) in search of Baby Yoda, and then his protection from that target baby of all persecution and assassination attempts by the galaxy’s most violent bounty hunters, has moving moments. The battle of the protagonist (aided by an extraordinary group of flying mandalorians at the Baby Yoda rescue against an evil army of the characters of Werner Herzog and Carl Weathers, in Episode 4) was a top-notch scene.
Episode 5 brought female MMA pioneer Gina Carano as a former soldier who helps MANDOLORIAN protect a farming community threatened by a group of bandits who have an Empire walker (those war machines that ride on two metal legs and have bulk weapons). The script drinks everything you can from classic western movies like SHANE and THE LONE RIDER.
For me, THE MANDALORIAN has already justified itself and is increasingly finding its prominent place in STAR WARS mythology. It is a series of excellence and deserves much to be seen. Ans, as a plus, brought Baby Yoda, the must of the season in entertainment.
