Um diretora de cinema israelense (a ótima Ayelet Zurer) recebe um roteiro escrito por uma roteirista e atriz de vida liberada Sophie (a linda Lili Kornovski). Ao decidir produzir o filme, ela chama para ator principal seu marido David (Gal Thoren). Quando não encontram uma atriz para fazer o papel principal, terminam escolhendo Sophie, o que vai causar um furacão na vida de todos.
LOSING ALICE usa e abusa mesclar realidade e ficção. Como mostra em detalhes a produção e filmagem da obra dentro da série, faz a delícia do cinéfilo espectador. É lindo ver como se cria uma obra cinematográfica.
As fortes conotações eróticas do filme em produção são incorporadas pela série que ousa bastante em diálogos e cenas entre os personagens, sobretudo para demonstrar as diferenças de vida entre Alice (num casamento de décadas com três filhas) e Sophie (liberada e independente para tudo).
