Já escrevi aqui que o HEIST (roubo) é quase um gênero de filme na história do cinema. Filmes se tornaram clássicos ao enfocar elaborados planos de roubos feitos por grupos de ladrões mais ou menos glamurosos. TOPKAPI, COMO ROUBAR UM MILHÃO DE DÓLARES e OCEAN’S ELEVEN são apenas três exemplares ilustres.
O REI DOS LADRÕES (KING OF THIEVES), de James Marsh (o inglês que fez o ótimo TEORIA DE TUDO) é um novo filme contando a história real (até onde?) do célebre crime em que sete veteranos e um jovem especialista em alarmes fizeram no distrito de diamantes de Londres.
Sir Michael Caine lidera o elenco estelar, no qual estão Michael Gambon, Tom Courtenay, Jim Broaddbent, Ray Winstone e Charlie Cox (o DEMOLIDOR da MARVEL). Sir Michael Caine é um fenômeno. Quase chegando aos 90 anos segue charmoso e magnético nas telas.
Achei que o filme tem diálogos demais, sobretudo depois do roubo em si, que era para ser o ponto alto da trama. Também faz parte do gênero, os ladrões, com o sucesso, crescerem o olho e começarem a querer ganhar mais que os colegas. Uma coisa infelizmente humana.
De qualquer sorte, o filme segue a receita dos clássicos do heist mesclando humor (as coisas que não dão certo no plano) e dramaticidade com suspense. REI DOS LADRÕES – que foi título de uma famosa série de TV com Robert Wagner – (está no NOW) é um bom filme, Dá para ver com prazer. Lembrando os grandes roubos e ladrões do cinema.

KING OF THIEVES, by James Marsh (the Englishman who did the great THEORY OF EVERYTHING) is a new film telling the real story (how far?) Of the famous crime in which seven veterans and a young alarm specialist made in the diamond district of London.
Sir Michael Caine leads the stellar cast, in which are Michael Gambon, Tom Courtenay, Jim Broaddbent, Ray Winstone and Charlie Cox (the MARVEL’S DAREDEVIL). Sir Michael Caine is a phenomenon. Almost reaching 90 years of age, he remains charming and magnetic on the screens.
I thought the film has too many dialogues, especially after the theft itself, which was supposed to be the highlight of the plot. It is also part of the genre, the thieves, with success, became envious and start wanting to earn more than their colleagues. An unfortunately human thing.
Anyway, the film follows the recipe of the heist classics, mixing humor (the things that don’t work out in the plan) and drama with suspense. KING OF THE THIEVES (it’s on NOW) is a good film, you can see it with pleasure. Remembering the great robberies and thieves of the cinema.
