Meu irmão Zé Victor Castiel me ligou um dia destes emocionado com o filme que acabara de ver: UM ANO EM NOVA IORQUE (MY SALLINGER YEAR), dirigido pelo cineasta canadense Philippe Falardeau, a partir de um romance autobiográfico da escritora Joanna Smith Rakoff.
Na década de 80, uma jovem aspirante a escritora se emprega como assistente da Agente literária que representa o mitológico escritor J.D.Sallinger (O APANHADOR NO CAMPO DE CENTEIO).
Embora o trabalho na agência seja claramente uma passagem, a convivência com livros, escritores e com a tradicional agente acelera o processo de maturidade da jovem, decidida a viver em Nova Iorque e seguir sua carreira a qualquer custo.
A protagonista é uma das jovens atrizes que estão na moda: Margaret Qualley (filha da também atriz Andie McDowell). A moça está nas telas com vários filmes e séries, entre as quais a reconhecida MAID. Anteriormente, trabalhou sob as ordens de Quentin Tarantino em ERA UMA VEZ EM HOLLYWOOD e no interessante NOVITIATE. Seu trabalho como a própria autora da história Joanna Rakoff é muito bom. Ela sente muito por cada fã que escreveu uma carta para Sallinger que ele nunca irá ver. Inconformada, também neste tema ela vai tentar uma resposta. Escritor não costuma se conformar.
No papel da agente literária Margaret, a atriz Sigourney Weaver dá mais um show. Desde que surgiu, enfrentando o monstro babão numa das obras primas de Ridley Scott (ALIEN), Sigourney só melhorou como atriz. Aos 72 anos de idade e com 98 filmes no currículo, a vencedora do BAFTA e do Globo de Ouro faz um trabalho rico e emocionante. A aparente frieza de sua personagem não a impede de ver em Joanna um talento bruto a ser lapidado, baseado em seu amor à literatura.
O elenco de apoio é daqueles escolhido a dedo: Douglas Booth, Seána Karslake, Colm Feore (ótimo como Daniel), Brian F. O’Byrne, Théodore Pellerin, Yannick Trusdale e Hanza Hak. Uma nota especial para Tim Post que vive o recluso escritor J.D.Sallinger de uma forma criativa e especial.
