No auge da Guerra Fria, os americanos instalaram torres de rádio em Portugal, na localidade chamada Glória do Ribatejo, com o objetivo de enviar transmissões pró mundo livre para a União Soviética. Os russos, então, montaram uma força tarefa de espiões infiltrados em Portugal para neutralizar a iniciativa.

Neste contexto, o jovem rico Engenheiro João Vidal (Miguel Nunes), recém chegado da cruenta guerra em Angola, renuncia à sua origem como filho de um ministro para ajudar a causa comunista.
Curiosamente, são as personagens femininas da série, com que João se envolve que melhor trabalham em GLÓRIA. Stephanie Vogt (como a espiã americana Annie O’Brian Wilson), a garçonete Carolina (Carolina Amaral), Mia (Victoria Guerra), Ana Neborac (como Irina, uma russa impiedosa), Leonor Silveira (Madalena Vidal) e Sofia (Maria João Pinho).
Como eu nunca tinha ouvido falar sobre a colaboração da Polícia Salazarista com a CIA, durante a Guerra Fria, GLÓRIA teve o acréscimo de ser uma verdadeira aula de história.
Pelo que li, GLÓRIA foi a primeira série portuguesa original da NETFLIX. Ver um filme de espionagem português em si já foi uma curiosidade.
Em resumo, GLÓRIA merece ser vista. É uma série cheia de interesses.

In this context, the young wealthy Engineer João Vidal (Miguel Nunes), recently arrived from the bloody war in Angola, renounces his origins as the son of a minister to help the communist cause.
Oddly enough, it’s the female characters in the series that João gets involved with that work best in GLORIA. Stephanie Vogt (as American spy Annie O’Brian Wilson), waitress Carolina (Carolina Amaral), Mia (Victoria Guerra), Ana Neborac (as Irina, a merciless Russian), Leonor Silveira (Madalena Vidal) and Sofia (Maria João Pine).
As I had never heard of the Salazarist Police’s collaboration with the CIA during the Cold War, GLORIA had the added benefit of being a true history lesson.
From what I read, GLORIA was the first original Portuguese series from NETFLIX. Seeing a Portuguese spy movie itself was a curiosity.
In short, GLORIA deserves to be seen. It’s a series full of interests.
