Que filme gostoso de assistir. Achei leve, alegre, a gente nem vê o tempo passar e quando acaba deixa um gostinho de quero mais.
O filme é tão bem feito e a história tão bem narrada que não fica claro se e sobre Vênus Williams ou sobre seu pai Richard Williams.
Um homem pobre, rústico e que fala bem errado criou um plano em sua cabeça quando ficou sabendo o valor de um prêmio de um jogador de tênis. Antes mesmo de ter suas filhas, ele já planejou que teria 2 campeãs de tênis e como seria toda a trajetória da família até atingirem este objetivo. E assim ele fez!
A gente não sabe como foi exatamente na vida real, mas ao contrário do que conhecemos na história de muitos atletas em que seus pais os obrigavam a ter sucesso em um esporte do qual eles nem gostavam, a impressão que fiquei foi que o sonho era dele, mas logo virou das meninas.
Elas treinavam todos os dias mas não pareceu pesado, nem torturante. Elas se empenhavam porque gostavam e também porque ele fez um excelente trabalho de auto confiança e elas acreditavam muito em seus potenciais!
O que eu mais gostei no filme: ver a preocupação com os valores deste homem e em como
manter sua família longe das ruas, das drogas e da criminalidade (realidade local onde viviam).
Sua persistência, muitas vezes chatas e inconveniente, seu plano e de novo sua preocupação em que as filhas tivessem além do sucesso no esporte, uma infância feliz e leve, e também sucesso nos estudos. Ele se preocupava com notas, com aprender novas línguas e em formar um caráter, não somente uma jogadora de sucesso.
Ele foi simples, humilde e verdadeiro. Nunca agrediu, enganou ou passou por cima de alguém. Muito pelo contrário, sofreu tudo isso quieto em prol dos valores que acreditava e queria passar para sua família.
Por fim, nunca acompanhei o esporte, não entendo de tênis e sempre achei que a top era a Serena.
É legal ver no filme a construção da carreira de ambas, porém, de Vênus em primeiro lugar.
Elas são o que são por terem aqueles valores do princípio e por serem low profile!

What a fun movie to watch. I found it light, cheerful, we don’t even see the time pass and when it ends it leaves me wanting more.
The film is so well made and the story so well told that it is unclear whether it is about Venus Williams or her father Richard Williams.
A poor, rustic man who speaks very wrongly created a plan in his head when he learned the value of a tennis player’s prize. Even before having his daughters, he already planned that he would have 2 tennis champions and how the whole family trajectory would be until they reached this goal. And so he did!
We don’t know exactly what it was like in real life, but contrary to what we know in the history of many athletes in which their parents forced them to succeed in a sport they didn’t even like, the impression I got it was that the dream was his, but it soon became the girls’.
They trained every day but it didn’t feel heavy or excruciating. They worked because they liked it and also because he did an excellent job of self-confidence and they really believed in their potential!
What I liked most about the movie: seeing the concern with this man’s values and how to
keep his family away from the streets, drugs and crime (the local reality where they lived).
His persistence, often boring and inconvenient, his plan and again his concern that his daughters have, in addition to success in sports, a happy and light childhood, and also success in studies. He was concerned with grades, with learning new languages and with building a character, not just a successful player.
He was simple, humble and true. He never assaulted, cheated or walked over anyone. Quite the contrary, he suffered all this quietly for the sake of the values he believed in and wanted to pass on to his family.
Finally, I never followed the sport, I don’t understand tennis and I always thought that the top was Serena.
It’s nice to see in the movie the construction of the career of both, however, Venus in the first place.
They are what they are because they have those values from the beginning and because they are low profile!
