Vi os dois primeiros capítulos da nova série da Amazon Prime Video, OUTER RANGE,
A primeira impressão foi bem positiva.
Duas famílias de fazendeiros do Wyoming são vizinhas e inimigas há gerações. Um delas, os Abbotts, é comandada por Royal (Josh Brolin um ótimo ator) e guarda o trauma do sumiço da esposa de um dos filhos, fato até então inexplicado. Enfrentam problemas financeiros pela dificuldade dos novos tempos, mas se mantêm apegados ao tradicional. Os vizinhos são os Tillersons, chefiados por um doente e místico Wayne (Will Patton), o patriarca de mão forte e disposição (e dinheiro) para sempre incomodar seus desafetos.
Neste contexto, aparece um enorme buraco na fazenda dos Abbotts, algo entre o extraterrestre e o místico.
Ainda há dois elementos complicadores: Autumn, uma misteriosa mulher (Imogen Poots), se dizendo um rica exploradora de paisagens ambientais do Wyoming, se instala em uma cabana na terra dos Abbotts. Quem é ela? Que relação terá com a cratera mística? Qual é seu objetivo por lá?
O segundo é que em uma briga de bar, dois filhos dos Abbotts acidentalmente matam um dos Tillersons, livrando-se do cadáver atirando-o no imenso buraco no solo, acirrando muito os ânimos entre as famílias.
Há tantos mistérios em OUTER RANGE que confesso ter visto fascinado estes dois primeiros episódios. Se mais houvessem sido lançados, mais eu teria visto.
A mescla de faroeste, com drama moderno sobre dificuldade de adaptação de famílias tradicionais às novas realidades, somado a um toque de fantastico, iniciou muito interessante.
Vou ver certo como os Abbotts e os Tillermans vão se sair com o buraco misterioso.
I saw the first two chapters of the new Amazon Prime Video series OUTER RANGE.
First impression was very positive.
Two Wyoming farming families have been neighbors and enemies for generations. One of them, the Abbotts, is commanded by Royal (Josh Brolin, a great actor) and guards the trauma of the disappearance of the wife of one of the children, a fact that was unexplained until then. They face financial problems due to the difficulty of the new times, but they remain attached to the traditional. The neighbors are the Tillersons, led by a sick and mystical Wayne (Will Patton), the patriarch with a strong hand and the willingness (and money) to always bother his enemies.
In this context, a huge hole appears in the Abbotts’ farm, something between the extraterrestrial and the mystical.
There are still two complicating elements: Autumn, a mysterious woman (Imogen Poots), claiming to be a wealthy explorer of Wyoming’s environmental landscapes, settles in a cabin in the Abbotts’ land. Who is she? What relationship will it have with the mystical crater? What is her goal over there?
The second is that in a bar fight, two Abbotts’ sons accidentally kill one of the Tillersons, getting rid of the corpse by throwing it into the huge hole in the ground, greatly raising the spirits between the families.
There are so many mysteries in OUTER RANGE that I confess that I watched these first two episodes fascinated. If more had been released, more I would have seen.
The mixture of the western, with modern drama about the difficulty of adapting traditional families to the new realities, added to a touch of the fantastic, started very interesting.
I’ll see for sure how the Abbotts and Tillermans do with the mystery hole.
