Há de tudo um pouco na série original da Amazon, NIGHT SKY.
Há um enredo de ficção científica sobre um Portal para outros planetas e para viagens no tempo e espaço. Há pessoas especiais integrantes de um grupo seleto com a missão de se proteger. Há tramas de espionagem. Tem finalmente, agenda pessoais de personagens de passado misterioso.
Mas nada se compara à história do casal de idosos York, uma dupla apaixonada há 50 anos que vive em sua pequena casa no interior do Illinois. Irene (Sissy Spacek maravilhosa) e Franklin (J.K. Simmons extraordinário) têm seus dramas insuperáveis (a perda do filho) e seus escapismos (o misterioso artefato guardado em segredo no quintal da casa), mas, acima de tudo, desfilam o excepcional humanismo e a incrível parceria de seu casamento.
Um trabalho de altíssimo nível dos dois atores rouba o interesse e a originalidade das demais tramas da série. Para mim, foi impossível não ter saudades de Spacek e Simmons em cada cena que os dois não protagonizam. Que coisa maravilhosa é ver dois grandes atores no auge de sua capacidade de interpretar.
Vi três dos oito capítulos de NIGHT SKY. É uma produção muito caprichada. A direção dos dois primeiros episódios (e produção da série) são do argentino Juan José Campanella (O SEGREDO DOS SEUS OLHOS), outro talentoso filmmaker.
É uma série bem diferente. A mescla de assuntos é impressionante.

There’s a little bit of everything in the Amazon original series, NIGHT SKY.
There is a sci-fi storyline about a Portal to other planets and to travel through time and space. There are special people who are part of a select group with a mission to protect themselves. There are spy plots. Finally, there are personal agendas of characters with a mysterious past.
But nothing compares to the story of the elderly couple York, a couple in love for 50 years who have lived in their small home in rural Illinois. Irene (Marvelous Sissy Spacek) and Franklin (Extraordinary J.K. Simmons) have their insurmountable dramas (the loss of their son) and their escapisms (the mysterious artifact kept secret in the backyard of the house), but, above all, they parade the exceptional humanism and the incredible partnership of their marriage.
A very high level work by the two actors steals the interest and originality of the other plots in the series. For me, it was impossible not to miss Spacek and Simmons in every scene they don’t star in. What a wonderful thing it is to see two great actors at the height of their acting ability.
I saw three of the eight chapters of NIGHT SKY. It is a very elaborate production. The direction of the two first episodes (and the production of all chapters) is made by Argentinian Juan Jose Campanella (THE SECRET OF YOUR EYES), a very gifted filmmaker.
Alsp it’s a very different series. The mix of subjects is impressive.
