Meu preferido, entre tantos papéis maravilhosos de um ator superior, é o do Juiz de Instrução da obra prima Z (1969) de Costa-Gavras. Poucos personagens me impressionaram tanto e tiveram um papel tão importante em minha vida. A postura e a retidão daquele jovem juiz, em meio a tantas (e tão poderosas) pressões estão até hoje vívidas em minha memória. Cinquenta e três anos depois, a arte de representar de um ator ainda me emociona.

My favorite, among so many wonderful roles of a superior actor, is that of the Judge of Instruction in the masterpiece Z (1969) by Costa-Gavras. Few characters have impressed me so much and played such an important role in my life. The posture and rectitude of that young judge, in the midst of so many (and so powerful) pressures, are still vivid in my memory. Fifty-three years later, an actor’s talent still moves me.
