Desde que eu li que Emma Thompson havia feito o filme GOOD LUCK, LEO GRANDE, escrito por Katy Brand e dirigido pela cineasta australiana Sophie Hyde, fiquei muito interessado. Ontem o filme entrou em cartaz no HULU.
Emma vive Nancy Stokes, uma viúva inglesa, mãe de dois filhos que teve um casamento longo e frio. O falecido marido, único homem com quem Nancy fez sexo na vida, não tinha a menor preocupação ou afeto pela esposa.
Certa tarde, em Londres, a sexagenária Nancy resolve contratar os serviços profissionais de Leo Grande, um jovem que funciona como acompanhante de elite. Ele é vivido com notável qualidade pelo ator irlandês Daryl McCormack.
Desde a chegada de Leo ao quarto de hotel reservado por Nancy para o encontro, o diálogo entre os dois é absolutamente delicioso. Ela é uma conservadora viúva inglesa dividida entre o desejo por uma aventura e a culpa que o sexo lha colocou durante toda a vida. Ela desiste do sexo inúmeras vezes dispensando Leo.
Ele é um jovem descolado e inteligente, disposto a dar duas horas de prazer àquela senhora tão atormentada.
O filme é realmente muito bem feito. Todos os complexos de Nancy (inclusive o trauma de nunca ter tido um orgasmo na vida) se fazem presentes entre ela e Leo, na sua interação no quarto do hotel.
O roteiro tem frases incríveis e que merecem uma profunda reflexão.
O filme ganhou as manchetes pelo fato de Emma Thompson aparecer totalmente nua aos 62 anos. A cena é realmente impressionante, mas o filme é muito mais que isto. É um sensível drama (com tons de comédia volta e meia) sobre a mulher e as armadilhas que o conservadorismo impõe a todos nós.
Gostei muito de GOOD LUCK, LEO GRANDE. Trata-se de um belo filme.
Ever since I read that Emma Thompson had made the movie GOOD LUCK TO YOU, LEO GRANDE, written by Katy Brand and directed by Australian filmmaker Sophie Hyde, I was very interested. Yesterday I saw the film on HULU.
Emma plays Nancy Stokes, an English widow, mother of two who had a long and cold marriage. Her late husband, the only man Nancy ever had sex with, had no concern or affection for his wife.
One afternoon in London, sixty-year-old Nancy decides to hire the professional services of Leo Grande, a young man who works as an elite escort. It is played with remarkable quality by Irish actor Daryl McCormack.
From Leo’s arrival to Nancy’s reserved hotel room for the date, the dialogue between the two has been absolutely delightful. She is a conservative English widow torn between the desire for a sex adventure and the guilt that sex has placed on her all her life. She gives up on sex countless times, dismissing Leo.
He is a cool and intelligent young man, willing to give that tormented lady two hours of pleasure.
The film is really very well done. All of Nancy’s complexes (including the trauma of never having had an orgasm in her life) are present between her and Leo, in their interaction in the hotel room.
The script has incredible lines that deserve a deep thought.
The film made headlines for the fact that Emma Thompson appeared fully naked at the age of 62. The scene is really impressive, but the film is much more than that. It is a sensitive drama (with comedy tones every now and then) about women and the traps that conservatism imposes on all of us.
I really enjoyed GOOD LUCK, LEO BIG. It is a beautiful film.
