O canal FX colocou em exibição no HULU, os dois primeiros capítulos da série THE OLD MAN.
A série se baseia no livro do escritor Thomas Perry. A trama narra a história de Dan Chase, um espião de elite do serviço secreto americano que resolveu sair de circulação 30 anos atrás, depois de uma missão que deixou sequelas.
Para surpresa geral, razões de estado colocaram Chase outra vez na alça de mira da CIA, obrigando o velho espião a defender sua vida.
Ter um ator do calibre do Oscarizado Jeff Bridges (que descobriu durante as filmagens ter câncer e Covid 19) foi uma benção para a série. Aos 73 anos, Bridges tem provavelmente o maior trabalho de sua longa carreira (91 filmes e séries). Ator icônico dos Irmãos Coen, Jeff Bridges constrói um espião inteligente, frio, calculista, experiente, sempre um passo à frente de seus perseguidores. Sempre acompanhado de seus dois cachorros Dave e Carol, rottweilers prontos para matar a uma palavra de seu dono. É um personagem memorável.
A perseguição a Dan é comandada por um antigo contemporâneo de CIA, Harold Harper (John Lithgow sempre maravilhoso), hoje um avô apaixonado por seu neto e traumatizado pela morte da filha e do marido em circunstâncias ainda misteriosas.
Há um terceiro vértice na trama que é o milionário e poderoso Morgan Bote (Joel Grey, de CABARET), o típico personagem que manipula a tudo e a todos nos bastidores.
As mulheres da trama são Zoe (Amy Brenneman), uma divorciada com quem Chase se depara em sua rota de fuga e Cheryl (Jessica Harper), a esposa de Harold. No elenco ainda têm destaque os atores Pej Vahdat, Bill Heck (o jovem Chase) e Christopher Redman (o jovem Harper).
Os dois primeiros episódios são nada menos que sensacionais. THE OLD MAN é daquelas produções que a gente vê como um fã hipnotizado pelo que está na tela. Cada cena tem algo de maravilhoso para encanto do espectador.
Vamos ver como Chase se sai nos próximos cinco capítulos. Mas THE OLD MAN desde já se inscreve entre o melhor do streaming em 2022.

The first two episodes are nothing short of sensational. THE OLD MAN is one of those productions that we see as a fan hypnotized by what’s on screen. Each scene has something wonderful to delight the viewer.
Let’s see how Chase does in the next five chapters. But THE OLD MAN already subscribes to the best of streaming in 2022.
