O atento leitor do CINEMARCO, César Milani me enviou mensagem informando que o filme original intitulado O PAI DA NOIVA é de 1950 e não aquele de 1991, estrelado por Steve Martin e Diane Keaton.
O primeiro O PAI DA NOIVA foi dirigido por Vincent Minelli (Pai de Lisa e marido de Judy Garland) e teve no elenco o extraordinário Spencer Tracy, Joan Bennett e uma linda Elizabeth Taylor. O cast ainda tinha Leo G. Carroll (o chefe do AGENTE DA UNCLE), Russ Tamblyn e Don Taylor.
Portanto a versão atual da HBO, com Andy Garcia e Gloria Estefan já é a terceira.
É certo que vou atrás para conhecer o filme original.

The first FATHER OF THE BRIDE was directed by Vincent Minelli (Lisa’s father and Judy Garland‘s husband) and stars the extraordinary Spencer Tracy, Joan Bennett and a beautiful Elizabeth Taylor. The cast still had Leo G. Carroll (the head of THE MAN OF U.N.C.L.E.), Russ Tamblyn and Don Taylor.
So the current HBO version, with Andy Garcia and Gloria Estefan, is already the third one.
I’m sure I’ll go back to see the original film.
