Hoje faz 47 anos do lançamento do filme TUBARÃO (JAWS) nos Estados Unidos. No Brasil, o filme somente foi lançado em 25 de dezembro de 1975.
O então menino prodígio de Hollywood, Steven Spielberg levava às telas o best seller de Peter Benchley, estrelando Roy Scheider (Xerife Brody), Richard Dreyfuss (Oceanógrafo Matt Hooper) e Robert Shaw (o pescador Quint).
Para mim um dos maiores filmes americanos de todos os tempos.
Por sinal, está rolando uma polêmica sobre quem escreveu o monólogo de Quint sobre o ataque de tubarões aos marinheiros do Porta-Aviões U.S.S.Indianápolis, uma das tantas cenas marcantes do filme. Segundo Spielberg, a versão final era de John Milius. O roteirista Carl Gottlieb afirma que foi o próprio Robert Shaw que deu forma final ao texto.
Seja de quem for, é um momento sublime de um filme espetacular.

Hollywood wonder boy Steven Spielberg brought Peter Benchley‘s best seller to the screen, starring Roy Scheider (Sheriff Brody), Richard Dreyfuss (Oceanographer Matt Hooper) and Robert Shaw (Fisherman Quint). The picture made millions across the country with long long lines of anxious fans.
For me it is one of the greatest American films of all time.
By the way, there’s been a controversy over who wrote Quint’s monologue about the shark attack on the sailors of the U.S.S.Indianapolis, one of the film’s many memorable scenes. According to Spielberg, the final version was by John Milius. Screenwriter Carl Gottlieb claims that it was Robert Shaw himself who gave the final form to the text.
Whoever it is, it’s a sublime moment in a spectacular film.
