Vi ontem o primeiro capítulo da série THE TERMINAL LIST, lançamento da amazon Prime Video. Foi dirigido por Antoine Fuqua, um cineasta muito talentoso. Outra vez Fuqua se sai muito bem.
Um mariner e sua unidade recebem a missão de capturar o químico de uma unidade terrorista no Oriente Médio. A missão fracassa com pesadas perdas na unidade SEAL.
O líder da unidade, James Reece (Chris Pratt um dos astros do momento) volta alegando que eles foram traídos e que o trabalho tinha virado uma emboscada. Ninguém, acredita nele e atribuem as acusações ao trauma sofrido na ação.
Esta é a grande sacada de THE TERMINAL LIST. Ao menos por enquanto, o espectador é colocado em dúvida sobre a exatidão das percepções do herói e o que se trata de realidade e o que é alucinação dele.
Há uma Secretária de Estado que parece saber mais do que diz (Jeanne Tripplehorn, a eterna psiquiatra pirada de INSTINTO SELVAGEM). Há uma jornalista investigativa atrás da verdade (Constance Hu). E um investigador da NCIS que parece estar atrás do protagonista. O elenco ainda tem a ótima Riley Keough (a neta de Elvis Presley) e Paul Crane (FAMA).
O clima de paranóia cabe bem nos tempos atuais.
Acho que o nível deste primeiro capítulo muito dificilmente vai seguir pelos próximos 7 episódios. Mas é inegável que o seriado iniciou muito bem.
Yesterday I saw the first chapter of THE TERMINAL LIST series, released by Amazon Prime Video. It was directed by Antoine Fuqua, a very gifted movie maker. Again, Fuqua got it.
A mariner and his unit are tasked with capturing the chemist from a terrorist movement in the Middle East. The mission fails with heavy losses in the SEAL unit.
The unit’s leader, James Reece (Chris Pratt one of the stars of the moment) returns claiming that they were betrayed and that the job had turned into an ambush. Nobody believes him and they attribute the accusations to the trauma suffered in the action.
This is the big point of THE TERMINAL LIST. At least for the time being, the spectator is left in doubt about the accuracy of the hero’s perceptions and what is reality and what is his hallucination.
There’s a Secretary of State who seems to know more than she says (Jeanne Tripplehorn, the eternal freak psychiatrist from BASIC INSTINCT). There’s an investigative journalist after the truth (Constance Hu). And an NCIS investigator who seems to be after the protagonist. The cast still has the great Riley Keough (the granddaughter of Elvis Presley) and Paul Crane (FAMA).
The climate of paranoia, fits well in the current times.
I think the level of this first chapter is very unlikely to follow for the next 7 episodes. But it is undeniable that the series started very well.
