A NETFLIX lançou nesta sexta-feira o thriller de espionagem AGENTE OCULTO, novo filme dos irmãos Anthony e Joe Russo, usuais diretores de filmes da MARVEL, entre os quais o CAPITÃO AMÉRICA.
A trama mostra um agente da CIA, chamado de Six que recebe de sua chefia a missão de matar um homem em Bangkok. Depois de uma confusão em um nightclub tailandês, o alvo surpreende o caçador com a revelação de que ele era o número quatro, que virava target porque questionara a companhia e lhe dá um chip contendo farta documentação sobre falcatruas do chefe maior da CIA.
A partir daí, Six (Ryan Gosling) vira alvo de uma caçada sem fim, em que a CIA tenta recuperar o chip a qualquer custo.
O elenco tem ótimos atores e atrizes. Ryan Gosling é um bom ator. Vide filmes memoráveis como LA LA LAND, THE FRACTURE, BLADE RUNNER 2049 e AMOR A TODA PROVA. Aqui achei ele meio no modo automático, mas sempre é uma presença interessante. Chris Evans (CAPITÃO AMÉRICA) faz um excelente trabalho. Seu Lloyd Hansen, um psicopata assumido que caça Six sem controle e sem restrições de custos, armas ou pessoal, com um bigodinho canalha de galã de novela é muito divertido.
Ainda tem Billy Bob Thornton (sempre digno de ser visto), Alfre Woodard, Ana de Armas (repetindo o papel de espiã sexy do último 007), René-Jean Pagé, o indiano Dhanush, a inglesa Jessica Henwick (do ótimo ON THE ROCKS) e o brasileiro Wagner Moura (em uma divertida criação de um maluquete marginal).
O ritmo de ação durante os 122 minutos que dura o filme e uma produção top de linha (há inúmeras cenas de tirar o fôlego, entre as quais uma briga a bordo de um avião em chamas, a fuga de um alçapão blindado e um tiroteio na praça central de Praga, onde o mocinho algemado vira alvo de uma centena de mercenários muito bem armados) asseguram que se veja o filme sem piscar.
Raras vezes vi um filme com tanta ação ininterrupta.
Mas se a gente pára para pensar na trama, tudo faz muito pouco sentido.
Realmente é surpreendente que um chefão da CIA viole as leis para assegurar o sigilo de suas operações secretas? Que ordene assassinatos e atos de corrupção que assegurem o atingimento de seus objetivos?
Refletido, parece um ponto de partida sem sentido.
E porque o número quatro (ou o seis depois) simplesmente não publicaram na internet as denúncias e seguraram consigo o chip revelador?
Ou ainda que o complô central envolva o sequestro da sobrinha doente do guru de Six, algo muito cliché.
Em resumo, THE GRAY MAN é um ótimo thriller para se ver. Desde que a gente não pare para pensar.
NETFLIX released this Friday the spy thriller THE GRAY MAN, a new film by brothers Anthony and Joe Russo, usual directors of MARVEL films, including CAPTAIN AMERICA.
The plot shows a CIA agent, called Six, who receives from his boss the mission to kill a man in Bangkok. After a scuffle in a Thai nightclub, the target surprises the hunter with the revelation that he was number four, who became target because he questioned the company and gives him a chip containing extensive documentation about the swindles of the CIA’s top boss.
From there, Six (Ryan Gosling) becomes the target of an endless hunt, in which the CIA tries to recover the chip at any cost.
The cast has great actors and actresses. Ryan Gosling is a good actor. He had memorable movies like LA LA LAND, THE FRACTURE, BLADE RUNNER 2049 and CRAZY, STUPID LOVE. Here I saw him in a kind of in automatic mode, but he’s always an interesting presence. Chris Evans (CAPTAIN AMERICA) does an excellent job. His Lloyd Hansen, a self-confessed psychopath who hunts Six without control and without restrictions on costs, weapons or personnel, with a soap opera heartthrob mustache is a lot of fun.
There’s still Billy Bob Thornton (always worthy to be seen), Alfre Woodard, Ana de Armas (reprising the role of sexy spy from the last 007), René-Jean Pagé, the Indian Dhanush, the English Jessica Henwick (from the great ON THE ROCKS ) and the Brazilian Wagner Moura (in an amusing creation of a marginal lunatic).
The action pace during the 122 minutes that the film lasts and a top of the line production (there are numerous breathtaking scenes, including a fight aboard a burning plane, the escape from an armored trapdoor and a gunfight in the Prague’s central square, where the handcuffed good guy becomes the target of a hundred well-armed mercenaries) ensure that the film is watched without blinking.
I have rarely seen a movie with so much non-stop action.
But if we stop to think about the plot, it all makes very little sense.
Is it really surprising that a CIA boss breaks the law to ensure the secrecy of his covert operations? That he orders murders and acts of corruption that ensure the achievement of its objectives?
Reflected, it seems like a pointless starting point.
And why number four (or six later) simply didn’t publish the proofs on the internet and hold the revealing chip with them?
Or that the central plot involves the kidnapping of Six’s guru’s sick niece, something very cliché.
In summary, THE GRAY MAN is a great thriller to watch. As long as we don’t stop to think.
