Eu sempre gostei muito do trabalho do ator Kevin Spacey. SEVEN, THE USUAL SUSPECTS, HOUSE OF CARDS, BELEZA AMERICANA são trabalhos primorosos de um grande ator. Lamentei muito que o desastre de sua vida pessoal tenha inviabilizado a carreira dele. Foi uma grande perda.
Ontem vi UMA VIDA SEM LIMITES, a cine biografia do artista Bobby Darin, escrita, dirigida e interpretada por Kevin Spacey.
Confesso que me surpreendeu favoravelmente. Embora tenha alguns exageros e certas ingenuidades em sua narrativa, o filme mostra a vida do grande artista criando cenas belíssimas, tanto visualmente quanto nos diálogos que as pontuam.
O elenco é extraordinário: além de Spacey, Kate Bosworth (Sandra Dee, a esposa de Darin), Bob Hoskins, Brenda Blethyn (a cada trabalho mostra ser uma atriz notável), Greta Scacchi e John Goodman. Um cast fora de série.
A música de Bobby Darin é uma moldura sensacional para uma vida difícil da criança pobre e doente que superou na arte todas as dificuldades para virar um grande nome do show business.
Talvez ao assumir também a direção do filme, Spacey tenha dado um passo maior que as pernas. Há momentos em que o filme se ressente da falta de um diretor mais experiente, sobretudo em cenas difíceis, como o final do filme.
Mas BEYOND THE SEA é um filme muito interessante de ser visto. Uma homenagem a um grande artista, que valoriza sobremodo o legado que ele nos deixou.

I always really liked the work of actor Kevin Spacey. SEVEN, THE USUAL SUSPECTS, HOUSE OF CARDS, AMERICAN BEAUTY are exquisite works by a great actor. I was very sorry that the disaster in his personal life had derailed his career. It was a big loss.
Yesterday I saw BEYOND THE SEA, the cine biography of the artist Bobby Darin, written, directed and performed by Kevin Spacey.
I confess that I was pleasantly surprised. Although it has some exaggerations and certain naivety in its narrative, the film shows the life of the great artist creating beautiful scenes, both visually and in the dialogues that punctuate them.
The cast is extraordinary: in addition to Spacey, Kate Bosworth (Sandra Dee, Darin’s wife), Bob Hoskins, Brenda Blethyn (each work proves to be a remarkable actress), Greta Scacchi and John Goodman. An outstanding cast.
Bobby Darin‘s music is a sensational frame for the difficult life of the poor and sick child who overcame all difficulties in art to become a big name in show business.
Perhaps by also taking on the direction of the film, Spacey has taken a step beyond his legs. There are moments when the film lacks a more experienced director, especially in difficult scenes such as the end of the film.
But BEYOND THE SEA is a very interesting film to look at. A tribute to a great artist, who greatly values the legacy he left us.
