Ela vive a protagonista Sophie, uma mulher que tenta reconstruir sua vida, depois de uma fracassada tentativa de suicídio, onde foi salva por milagre.
O relacionamento com seu misterioso marido (Oliver Jackson-Cohen), sua melhor amiga (Ari Graynor) e até com sua psiquiatra (Marianne Jean-Baptiste) a todo momento provocam dúvidas em Sophie, que nada lembra de antes do momento em que teria se jogado de um barco em alto mar.
O encontro com o Policial Baden (Stephan James) – com quem parece ter mais que um pequeno conhecimento – acende ainda mais questões para a desorientada Sophie.
Vi os dois primeiros dos oito capítulos desta temporada.
Gostei bastante. acho que a criadora e roteirista Veronica West foi muito feliz em ir dando as informações ao espectador na medida em que Sophie vai descobrindo as coisas de sua vida pregressa. Esta ligação com Sophie é feita de forma criativa e inteligente.

The relationship with her secretive husband (Oliver Jackson-Cohen), her best friend (Ari Graynor) and even with her psychiatrist (Marianne Jean-Baptiste) constantly causes doubts in Sophie, who remembers nothing of before the moment she would have thrown from a boat on the high seas.
Her encounter with Officer Baden (Stephan James) —whom she seems to have more than a little acquaintance with—lights even more questions for the bewildered Sophie.
I saw the first two of the eight chapters of this season.
I really liked it. I think creator and screenwriter Veronica West was very happy to give the viewer information as Sophie discovers things about her past life. This connection with Sophie is done creatively and intelligently.
I read some reviews destroying SURFACE as a shallow thriller.
From the initial sample, Sophie’s story is going to have to get a lot worse.
The beginning is very promising.
