A Amazon Prime tem o filme argentino THE GERMAN DOCTOR (WAKOLDA), que a cineasta Lucia Puenzo dirigiu em 2013.
É a história real de uma família argentina que busca retomar o hotel de propriedade dos pais da mulher e recebe como hóspede um médico alemão, que depois viriam a saber era Joseph Mengele, o assassino de milhares de pessoas com experiências genéticas terríveis., um dos maiores criminosos de guerra de todos os tempos.
Desde o início, o filme de Puenzo tem um tom desencantado muito interessante. A viagem por uma estrada perigosa, onde a família conhece o médico já anteve um filme seco e duro.
O lindo local onde fica o velho hotel até ameaça resgatar algo de bom, assim como as poucas cenas onde os argentinos fazem tímidas comemorações de aniversários.
Mas o mal está ali presente e infiltrado. Mengele e seus protetores seguem seus planos de restauração da raça superior ariana, mesmo depois da queda do Terceiro Reich.
O ator catalão Alex Brendemuhl vive Mengele, em interpretação cheia de sutilezas que evidenciam a frieza do assassino. Diego Peretti e Natalia Oreiro vivem o casal proprietário do Hotel. E a menina Florencia Bado vive a filha Lilith, escolhida por Mengele para sua experiência de hormônios de crescimento.
THE GERMAN DOCTOR escolheu um tom quase documental. Não há muitos arroubos ou paixões no filme. Mas a história assustadora da guarida argentina aos criminosos nazistas já merece ser conhecida, contada e repudiada sempre que possível.

It is the true story of an Argentine family that seeks to retake the hotel owned by the wife’s parents and receives as a guest a German doctor, who they would later learn to be Joseph Mengele, the murderer of thousands of people with terrible genetic experiences, one of the greatest war criminals of all time.
From the beginning, Puenzo’s film has a very interesting disenchanted tone. The journey down a dangerous road, where the family meets the doctor, has already seen a dry and harsh film.
The beautiful location where the old hotel is located even threatens to rescue something good, as well as the few scenes where Argentines shyly celebrate their birthdays.
But evil is present and infiltrated there. Mengele and his protectors pursue their plans to restore the Aryan master race, even after the fall of the Third Reich.
Catalan actor Alex Brendemuhl plays Mengele, in an interpretation full of subtleties that show the coldness of the killer. Diego Peretti and Natalia Oreiro play the couple who own the Hotel. And the girl Florencia Bado plays the daughter Lilith, chosen by Mengele for her experience with growth hormones.
THE GERMAN DOCTOR chose an almost documentary tone. There aren’t many elations or passions in the film. But the frightening story of the Argentine lair to Nazi criminals deserves to be known, told and repudiated whenever possible.
Lucia Puenzo made an interesting film to watch.
