A NETFLIX está mostrando o drama de ação LOU, dirigido pela cineasta Anna Foerster (UNDERWORLD: BLOOD WARS).
Ultimamente os filmes de ação têm pouco ou zero “penso” em seus roteiros. É tiroteio, briga, explosões, e muito pouco de enredo.
LOU é um filme de ação à moda antiga.
Uma ex-agente da CIA vive isolada e reclusa em uma pequena comunidade em Orca’s Island, um conjunto de ilhas no Estado de Washington. Com um passado dolorido, ela tem muito dinheiro guardado, tendências suicidas e um cachorro muito feio mas uma fiel companhia.
No dia da maior tempestade da história, a filha da vizinha dela é raptada pelo pai e ela resolve se envolver e ir atrás da menina.
Já era um bom ponto de partida para um filme de ação.
Mas o roteiro de Maggie Cohn e Jack Stanley decidiu introduzir incríveis reflexões sobre maternidade, paternidade, amores passados, envelhecimento e complexos edipianos e de Electra em meio a um cenário inóspito (mas belíssimo) e muita ação.
O resultado é que se vê LOU hipnotizado pela história.
A excelente Allison Janney (THE HOURS e THE HELP) faz a protagonista LOU de forma admirável. Seu trabalho é um tour de force impressionante. Jurnee Smollett e Logan Marshall-Green estão no elenco.
Filme de ação pode ter roteiro inteligente, sem perder a adrenalina.

Lately, action movies have little or no “think” in their scripts. It’s gunfight, brawling, explosions, and very little plot.
LOU is an old-fashioned action movie.
A former CIA agent lives isolated and reclusive in a small community on Orca’s Island, a cluster of islands in Washington State. With a painful past, she has a lot of money saved, suicidal tendencies and a very ugly dog but a faithful companion.
On the day of the biggest storm in history, her neighbor’s daughter is kidnapped by her father and she decides to get involved and go after the girl.
It was already a good starting point for an action movie.
But the screenplay by Maggie Cohn and Jack Stanley decided to introduce incredible reflections on motherhood, fatherhood, past loves, aging and Oedipal and Electra complexes amidst an inhospitable (but beautiful) setting and lots of action.
The result is that LOU becomes the viewer hypnotized by the story.
The excellent Allison Janney (THE HOURS and THE HELP) plays the protagonist LOU admirably. Her work is an impressive tour de force. Jurnee Smollett and Logan Marshall-Green are in the cast.
Action movie can have a smart script, without losing the adrenaline.
LOU reminds us of this.
