A ABC lançou esta semana nos EUA a série ALASKA DAILY. O piloto já está disponível no HULU.
A trama mostra uma jornalista investigativa que é “fritada” por seus chefes em um grande jornal de Nova Iorque quando autoridades governamentais fazem uma fonte dela recuar nas informações que basearam matérias sobre um escândalo de compra de armas.
Eileen Fitzgerald cai em desgraça. Resolve escrever um livro para contar sua versão dos fatos, quando recebe um convite tão desafiador quanto inusitado: ir trabalhar em um pequeno jornal de Anchorage, Alaska, sob a chefia de um veterano jornalista com quem trabalhou (e brigou) anos atrás.
Muito sem opção, Eileen viaja para o Alaska onde conhece um novo velho mundo: o jornalismo tem os mesmos valores, dificuldades e desafios, não importa o tamanho do veículo ou da cidade.
Jovens da raça indígena vêm sendo assassinadas na região sem qualquer investigação ou solução pelas autoridades locais.
Eu sou fã de carteirinha da atriz Hillary Swank. Acho os dois Oscars de Melhor Atriz que ela já tem muito merecidos (BOYS DON’T CRY e MILLION DOLLAR BABY). Swank, 48 anos é daquelas atrizes que me deixam hipnotizado. Está certo que às vezes ela escolhe filmes terríveis. Mas quando acerta, sai da frente.
Curiosamente nesta série ela volta a viver uma personagem de sobrenome Fitzgerald, como a incrível lutadora do filme inesquecível de Clint Eastwood. Eileen, como Maggie não tem vida fácil.
Vi apenas o primeiro capítulo de ALASKA DAILY. Ao final do episódio, busquei desesperadamente o segundo. Ainda não está disponível. Vou ter que esperar uma semana.

The plot shows an investigative journalist who is “fried” by her bosses at a major New York newspaper when government officials make a source of her back off on information that based stories about a gun-buying scandal.
Eileen Fitzgerald falls in disgrace. She decides to write a book to tell her version of events, when she receives an invitation as challenging as it is unusual: to work at a small newspaper in Anchorage, Alaska, under the leadership of a veteran journalist (Jeff Perry) with whom she worked (and fought) years ago.
With little choice, Eileen travels to Alaska where she meets a new old world: journalism has the same values, difficulties and challenges, no matter the size of the vehicle or the city.
Young female people of the indigenous race have been murdered in the region without any investigation or solution by the local authorities.
I’m a big fan of actress Hilary Swank. I think her two Best Actress Oscars are very well deserved (BOYS DON’T CRY and MILLION DOLLAR BABY). Swank, 48 years old, is one of those actresses that hypnotizes me. It’s okay that sometimes she chooses terrible movies. But when she gets it right, she gets rocket.
Interestingly, in this series, she returns to live a character surnamed Fitzgerald, as the incredible fighter in Clint Eastwood‘s unforgettable film. Eileen, like Maggie, doesn’t have an easy life.
I only saw the first chapter of ALASKA DAILY. At the end of the episode, I desperately searched for the second one. Not yet available. I’ll have to wait a week.
Hilary, journalism, and Anchorage’s Missing Girls already got my heart and mind.
