Vi os três primeiros capítulos da série original do PEACOCK, intitulada THE CALLING. A trama é baseada nos livros do escritor israelense Dror Mishani, se inserindo dentro da série com o personagem do Detetive Avraham Avraham.
A série, produzida por David e, Kelley e dirigida (ao menos nos capítulos iniciais) por Barry Levinson parte de um argumento altamente atrativo. Um menino adolescente some e os policiais designados para o caso são Avi, um judeu praticante (faz rezas em hebraico cada vez que se depara com um cadáver) e uma cética e ambiciosa Janine Harris rookie impressionada com a capacidade do parceiro de conseguir confissões inesperadas em seus interrogatórios.
Avi é vivido pelo ator israelense Jeff Wiebusch, visto em A GAROTA DO TAMBOR e OSLO. Ela é a atriz juliana Canfield de SUCCESSION.
Apesar do enredo ter me pego em cheio, confesso que o duo central de atores ainda não me envolveu. Estou olhando para eles com certo distanciamento.
A relação entre investigação e religião também está me parecendo superficial. Acho até meio mesclada com um misticismo meio duvidoso.
Mas as perguntas sobre o que aconteceu com o menino desaparecido e quem é o culpado estão assegurando o interesse da série.
Com produção de Kelley e direção de Levinson, acho que THE CALLING podia ir além do foi nestes primeiros episódios.
Mas prometo que vou ver até o final. Eles merecem uma segunda chance.
I saw the first three chapters of the original PEACOCK series entitled THE CALLING. The plot is based on the books by Israeli writer Dror Mishani, inserting into the series with the character of Detective Avraham Avraham.
The series, produced by David E. Kelley and directed (at least in the opening chapters by Barry Levinson), starts with a highly attractive argument. A teenage boy disappears and the police officers assigned to the case are Avi, a practicing Jew (he says prayers in Hebrew each time he comes across a dead body) and a skeptical and ambitious rookie Janine Harris impressed by her partner’s ability to elicit unexpected confessions in his interrogations.
Avi is played by Israeli actor Jeff Wiebusch, seen in THE LITTLE DRUMMER GIRL and OSLO. She is actress Julian Canfield of SUCCESSION.
Despite the plot having caught me in full, I confess that the central duo of actors has not yet involved me. I’m looking at them with a certain detachment.
The relationship between research and religion is also looking superficial to me. I think it’s even mixed with a kind of dubious mysticism.
But questions about what happened to the missing boy and who the culprit is are securing the show’s interest.
With production by Kelley and direction by Levinson, I think THE CALLING could go beyond what it was in these first few episodes.
But I promise I’ll see until the end. They deserve a second chance.
