O Clube de Cinema de Porto Alegre irá exibir na próxima terça-feira, dia 13/12, na Sala Redenção, às 19 horas, o filme clássico MUITO ALÉM DO JARDIM, dirigido por Hal Ashby em 1979.
Trata-se de um filme maravilhoso, conduzido pelo talento único do extraordinário ator Peter Sellers, falecido em 1980, aos 54 anos.
Curiosamente, a primeira vez que vi BEING THERE foi em uma das sessões matinais de domingo do Clube de Cinema de Porto Alegre.
Sellers vive o jardineiro Chauncey , um homem aparentemente meio atrasado que é acidentalmente elevado na sociedade rica de Washington D.C., assumindo o nome de Chauncey Gardner.
Não vou entrar em detalhes do filme, porque a narrativa de Ashby (que foi um grande cineasta), baseada no livro de Jerry Kosinski, é superlativa. Descobrir cada detalhe é um delicioso exercício para qualquer cinéfilo.
O trabalho de Peter Sellers é antológico, um dos melhores de sua espetacular carreira.
O elenco é excelente Shirley MacLaine, Melvyn Douglas (Oscar de Melhor Ator Coadjuvante), Jack Warden, Richard Basehart e Richard Dysart.
Faz 43 anos que BEING THERE foi lançado nos cinemas.
Até hoje tenho gravado em minha memória as frases e andanças do Jardineiro Chauncey, um outro personagem imortal do cinema.
The Cinema Club of Porto Alegre will screen next Tuesday, 12/13, at Sala Redenção, at 7 pm, the classic film BEING THERE, directed by Hal Ashby in 1979.
This is a wonderful film, directed by the unique talent of the extraordinary actor Peter Sellers, who died in 1980 at the age of 54.
Interestingly, the first time I saw BEING THERE was at one of the Sunday morning sessions at the Clube de Cinema de Porto Alegre.
Sellers plays gardener Chauncey, a seemingly backward man who is accidentally elevated into wealthy Washington D.C. society, assuming the name Chauncey Gardner.
I won’t go into the details of the film, because Ashby’s (who was a great filmmaker) narrative, based on Jerry Kosinski‘s book, is superlative. Discovering every detail is a delicious exercise for any film buff.
Peter Sellers’ work is anthological, one of the best of his spectacular career.
The cast is excellent Shirley MacLaine, Melvyn Douglas (Oscar for Best Supporting Actor), Jack Warden, Richard Basehart and Richard Dysart.
It’s been 43 years since BEING THERE was released in theaters.
To this day I have engraved in my memory the phrases and movements of the Gardener Chauncey, an immortal character of movie history.
