Já apareceu o primeiro excelente new show de 2023: POKER FACE, em exibição no Peacock.
O cineasta Rian Johnson e a atriz e produtora multi premiada Natasha Lyonne (ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK) criaram e apresentam a história super original de Charlie Cale, uma jogadora de poker que se especializou em identificar quem está mentindo e quem está dizendo a verdade.
No primeiro episódio, Charlie acidentalmente descobre e estraga um plano milionário do dono do cassino onde trabalha. Como consequência tem que colocar o pé na estrada e fugir sem olhar para trás.
A cada episódio, a jovem se depara com um crime e vai usar seu talento para descobrir e prender o culpado.
A trama é tão original que pega o espectador de jeito. Charlie em muitas oportunidade parece um Tenente Columbo, levantando detalhes dos crimes que ninguém havia percebido.
Rian Johnson – o responsável pelos filmes KNIVES OUT e GLASS ONION – mostra que é um sujeito que entende do riscado. Seu novo show é igualmente divertido.
Outra atração de POKER FACE são as participações de grandes nomes de Hollywood: Adrien Brody, Benjamin Bratt, Joseph Gordon Levitt, Chloe Sevigny, Ellen Barkin, Tim Blake Nelson, Ron Perlman, Nick Nolte e muitos outros.
Ainda há três outros fatores que me agradaram na série: i) os vilões seguem atrás de Charlie e aparecem quando menos se espera; ii) a trilha sonora tem hits que acariciam nossa memória musical afetiva; e iii) há inúmeras citações de filmes nos diálogos, o que é um presente suplementar para qualquer cinéfilo.
Gostei realmente muito dos quatro primeiros episódios que vi. Achei o show original, criativo e muito interessante.

Filmmaker Rian Johnson and multi-award winning actress and producer Natasha Lyonne (ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK) create and present the highly original story of Charlie Cale, a female poker player who specializes in identifying who is lying and who is telling the truth.
In the first episode, Charlie accidentally discovers and ruins a millionaire plan by the owner of the casino where she works.
As a result, she has to hit the road and run away without looking back.
In each episode, the young woman is faced with a crime and will use her talent to discover and arrest the culprit.
The plot is so original that it catches the viewer.
Charlie on many occasions looks like a Lieutenant Columbo, raising details of crimes that no one had noticed.
Rian Johnson-the man responsible for the films KNIVES OUT and GLASS ONION-shows that he is a guy who understands the risk. His new show is just as fun.
Another attraction of POKER FACE are the participation of big names from Hollywood: Adrien Brody, Benjamin Bratt, Joseph Gordon Levitt, Chloe Sevigny, Ellen Barkin, Tim Blake Nelson, Ron Perlman, Nick Nolte and many others.
There are still three other factors that I liked about the series: i) the villains follow after Charlie and appear when least expected; ii) the soundtrack has hits that caress our affective musical memory; and iii) there are numerous movie quotes in the dialogues, which is an added gift for any cinephile.
I really enjoyed the first four episodes I watched.
I think the show original, creative and very interesting.
POKER FACE is already on the list of the best of 2023.
