Eu nunca tinha ouvido falar na história real do brutal assassinato de jornalista sueca Kim Wall.
A série de seis capítulos THE INVESTIGATION, da HBO MAX (por enquanto disponível apenas nos EUA) recria com detalhes excruciantes e maestria narrativa todo o episódio.
Em agosto de 2017, Kim Wall (uma jornalista free lancer dedicada a reportagens ao redor do mundo que mostrassem causas humanitárias) pediu uma entrevista ao milionário empresário dinamarquês Peter Madsen, embarcando com ele para um passeio a bordo do submarino que ele houvera construído.
Peter voltou sozinho para o porto e passou a contar histórias diferentes sobre o desaparecimento de Kim Wall.
A Polícia de Kopenhagen – chefiada pelo veterano e obstinado Detetive Jens Moller (Soren Mallik) – passa a investigar o caso e vai, a cada momento, fazendo descobertas aterradoras sobre Madsen e o destino de Kim Wall.
Raramente vi uma série policial ter uma narrativa tão fria e documental. THE INVESTIGATION usa e abusa de reportar os fatos, quase como uma reportagem.
Paradoxalmente, há cenas incrivelmente emocionantes, como os encontros de Moller com os pais de Kim, interpretados pelos excelentes Rolf Lasgard e Pernilla August. É em um desses encontros que o frio Moller sai com a frase “eu gostaria que vocês jamais tivessem me conhecido.”
Outra cena incrível é aquela em que Moller cumprimenta um a um dos mergulhadores que fizeram centenas de mergulhos até encontrar todas as pistas da morte de Kim Wall. Ficou ainda mais significativa quando se lê que vários deles eram mergulhadores reais do caso.
Também estão ótimos (todo cast é incrível) os parceiros mais próximos de Moller na investigação, a policial Porse (Laura Christensen) e o Policial Musa (Dufi Al-Jabouri).
Propositadamente, os produtores e diretores da série escolheram não colocar nenhum ator para viver os papéis de Kim Wall e Peter Madsen. Foi um recurso narrativo brilhante. Quando uma foto belíssima de Kim surge na tela nos créditos finais é impossível contar a emoção.
Os pais de Kim Wall têm um instituto que paga os estudos de jovens que queriram ser jornalistas como a filha.
São cenas que fecham exemplarmente a série brilhante feita sobre um caso real e assustador.

In August 2017, Kim Wall (a freelance journalist dedicated to reports around the world that show humanitarian causes) asked for an interview with the millionaire Danish businessman Peter Madsen, embarking with him for a tour aboard the submarine he had built.
Peter returned to the harbor alone and began to tell different stories about Kim Wall’s disappearance.
The Kopenhagen Police – led by veteran and obstinate Detective Jens Moller (Soren Mallik) – starts to investigate the case and is, at every moment, making terrifying discoveries about Madsen and the destiny of Kim Wall.
Rarely have I seen a detective series have such a cold and documentary narrative. THE INVESTIGATION uses and abuses to report the facts, almost like a report.
Paradoxically, there are incredibly emotional scenes, such as Moller’s encounters with Kim’s parents, played by the excellent Rolf Lasgard and Pernilla August. It is in one of these meetings that the cold Moller comes out with the phrase “I wish you had never met me.”
Another incredible scene is the one in which Moller greets one by one the divers who made hundreds of dives until they found all the clues to Kim Wall’s death. It gets even more meaningful when you read that several of them were actual divers on the case.
Also great (every cast is amazing) are Moller’s closest partners in the investigation, Officer Porse (Laura Christensen) and Officer Musa (Dufi Al-Jabouri).
The series’ producers and directors purposely chose not to cast any actors to play the roles of Kim Wall and Peter Madsen. It was a brilliant narrative decision.
When a beautiful photo of Kim appears on the screen in the closing credits, it’s impossible to count the emotion.
Kim Wall’s parents have an institute that pays for the studies of young people who wanted to be journalists like their daughter.
These are more impressive scenes that perfectly close the brilliant series made about a real and frightening case.
