Eu já tinha visto o ótimo documentário brasileiro SIMONAL – NINGUÉM SABE O DURO QUE DEI, contando a controvertida história de Wilson Simonal, um jovem pobre que chegou à fama e fortuna graças ao seu talento artístico único e viu sua carreira desgraçada por uma mal explicada história de cumplicidade com as forças da ditadura militar.
O filme de ficção SIMONAL, dirigido em 2019, por Leandro Domingues – disponível no NOW – recebeu 10 indicações no Prêmio do Cinema Brasileiro, levando 4 troféus.
Fabrício Boliveira vive Wilson Simonal, em um trabalho notável. Vale a pena mencionar que o diretor Domingues, em algumas cenas, opta por deixar as imagens reais de Wilson Simonal, como no célebre dueto do cantor com Ella Fitzgerald e outras aparições públicas notáveis.
Iris Valverde faz a esposa Teresa Pugliesi. Acho que o papel poderia ser mais aprofundado, evitando o estereótipo da esposa chata e reclamona. Leandro Hassum (Carlos Imperial), Caco Ciocler (o policial Santana), João Velho (Miele) se destacam no elenco.
Segundo a história, Simonal teria acionado agentes do DOPS para pressionar um contador que fora demitido em litígio com o cantor. O episódio veio a público e uma matéria de O PASQUIM acusou Simonal de ter colaborado com a delação de artistas às forças de repressão.
Os fatos (e os boatos) acabaram com a carreira de Wilso simonal, que morreu no ano 2000, ainda marcado pela pecha de traidor.
O filme busca lançar uma luz sobre o episódio, mas na minha opinião, especificamente nesse episódio, poderia ser mais contundente e investigativo. A dúvida segue.
De qualquer sorte, a parte da ascensão de Simonal ao sucesso é muito bem feita e extremamente divertida.
Como na carreira real do cantor, a ascensão ficou muito melhor que a queda.

The film seeks to shed light on the episode, but in my opinion, specifically on this part, it could be more scathing and investigative. Doubt follows.
Anyway, the part of Simonal’s rise to success is very well done and extremely entertaining.
As in the singer’s real career, the rise was much better than the fall.
