Um dos melhores filmes de 1992 foi PERDAS E DANOS, um drama que o cineasta francês Louis Malle fez a partir do livro DAMAGE, escrito por Josephine Hart. Jeremy Irons vivia um cirurgião de grande sucesso que se apaixona loucamente pela noiva do filho, Anna, interpretada por uma sofrida Juliette Binoche. Foi um filme marcante.
A NETFLIX está exibindo a série inglesa (4 capítulos) OBSESSION, feita a partir do mesmo livro que o filme de Louis Malle.
Por todas as razões, estamos falando de duas coisas diferentes. O trabalho de Malle era um filmaço, perfeito do argumento ao elenco impecável.
A série é muito bem feita para os padrões usuais. A produção é ótima, valorizando as escolhas de cenários, como por exemplo o prédio onde fica o local dos encontros furtivos dos dois amantes.
O médico dessa vez é interpretado pelo ótimo Richard Armitage (de THE HOBBIT, STAY CLOSE e THE STRANGER). O Dr. William Farrow é casado com uma atraente mulher, vivida pela sempre maravilhosa Indira Varma. Quando o filho lhes apresenta a noiva Anna Barton (Charlie Murphy em seu melhor papel), os dois se apaixonam no ato e dali em diante nada que não seja aquele fogo incontrolável vai reger suas ações.
Os encontros sexuais dos dois são filmados brilhantemente. São criativos, sensuais, gráficos, plásticos e se inserem perfeitamente na narrativa geral.
Até pelo filme de Malle, a gente já sabe que não há possibilidade de solução que não seja trágica para os personagens de DAMAGE.
O final é inevitável.
Mas o drama que o precede merece ser visto por todas as razões.
OBSESSION é uma série muito bem trabalhada.

Jeremy Irons played a highly successful surgeon who falls madly in love with his son’s fiancée, Anna, played by a long-suffering Juliette Binoche. It was a remarkable film.
NETFLIX is showing the English series (4 chapters) OBSESSION, based on the same book as the Louis Malle film.
For all the reasons we are talking about two different things. Malle’s work was a great film, perfect from the script to the impeccable cast.
The series is pretty well done by the usual standards. The production is great, valuing the choice of settings, such as the building where the two lovers’ furtive meetings are located.
The doctor this time is played by the great Richard Armitage (from THE HOBBIT, STAY CLOSE and THE STRANGER). William Farrow is married to an attractive woman, played by the always wonderful Indira Varma. When their son introduces them to the bride Anna Barton (Charlie Murphy in her best role), the two fall in love on the spot and from then on nothing but that uncontrollable fire will govern their actions.
Their sexual encounters are brilliantly filmed. They are creative, sensual, graphic, plastic and fit perfectly into the general narrative.
Even from Malle’s film, we already know that there is no possibility of a solution that is not tragic for the characters in DAMAGE.
The ending is inevitable.
But the drama that precedes it deserves to be seen for every reason.
OBSESSION is a very well crafted series.
