Está em cartaz nos cinemas o filme AIR, dirigido por Ben Affleck.
O filme narra os últimos dias da negociação entre a Nike Basketball, uma divisão da NIKE com a Família Jordan, para que Michael Jordan se tornasse atleta da famosa marca da Deusa da Vitória.
Os méritos do filme são muitos.
Ben Affleck dirigiu somente nove filmes até agora. Mas entre esses estão obras diferenciadas como GONE BABY GONE, THE TOWN e ARGO (premiado com o Oscar de Melhor Filme). Com sua larga experiência como Produtor, Ator e Roteirista, Affleck sabe muito como dirigir um filme.
A história mostrada é fascinante. As grande empresas de fabricação de artigos esportivos (todos vindos do oriente como é dito no filme) batalhavam a cada ano para “vencer” os melhores jogadores do basquete universitário americano. A divisão de basquete da Nike estava em baixa, apesar de contar com o talento visionário de Sonny Vaccaro (Matt Damon sempre ótimo), um jovem e brilhante executivo de marketing que vivia o basquete 24 horas por dia.
A certa altura, Vaccaro tem a ideia de sua vida. Concentrar todo investimento do ano da Divisão no jovem atleta da Universidade de Carolina do Norte, Michael Jordan, seduzindo -o com uma proposta inédita, um tênis especial para basquete com o seu nome, o Air Jordan.
Os meandros da negociação e as técnicas empregadas já garantem o fascínio do filme.
Mas ele é muito mais que isso. Mostra, por exemplo, com rara sensibilidade a importância do trabalho em equipe. A divisão de basquete da Nike, atua como um time campeão na quadra. Todos cobrindo o colega para que o resultado comum seja atingido. Todos ganham e todos perdem. Nos negócios, no jogo, na vida. A metáfora é espetacular.
Claro que são elementos chave aqueles que nunca desistem. Phill Knight (Ben Affleck, divertido), CEO da Nike e co-fundador da empresa, já era visionário quando colocou todo dinheiro que não tinha em uma empresa vendedora de tênis. A ousadia jamais deixou suas ações de lado. Aqui ele aposta tudo no sonho de Vaccaro e mudou a indústria para sempre.
Papel essencial no filme tem Deloris Jordan (Viola Davis magnífica), a mãe de Michael. Ela define a carreira (e as decisões) do filho. Sua firmeza possibilitou o acerto e os resultados são definitivos.
O elenco do filme ainda tem Jason Bateman, Chris Messina e Damian Delano Young.
Michael Jordan e o Nike Air mudaram a história do esporte e estão aí até hoje explorando caminhos novos a cada temporada. O maior jogador de basquete de todos os tempos é sócio a NIKE para sempre.
Trata-se de uma história riquíssima contada em um excelente filme.

The film narrates the last days of negotiations between Nike Basketball, a division of NIKE, and the Jordan Family, so that Michael Jordan becomes an athlete for the famous brand of the Goddess of Victory.
The merits of the film are multiple.
Ben Affleck has only directed nine movies so far. But among these are differentiated works such as GONE BABY GONE, THE TOWN and ARGO (awarded with the Oscar for Best Film). With his extensive experience as a Producer, Actor and Screenwriter, Affleck knows a lot how to direct a film.
The history shown is fascinating. The big sporting goods manufacturing companies (all coming from the orient as it is said in the film) battled each year to “beat” the best players in American college basketball. Nike’s basketball division was at a low phases despite the visionary talent of Sonny Vaccaro (the always great Matt Damon), a bright young marketing executive who lived basketball 24 hours a day.
At one point Vaccaro has the idea of his life. Focus all of the Division’s investment of the year on the young athlete from the University of North Carolina, Michael Jordan, seducing him with an unprecedented proposal, a special basketball shoe with his name, the Air Jordan.
The intricacies of negotiation and the techniques employed already guarantee the fascination of the film.
But he is much more than that. It shows, for example, with rare sensitivity the importance of teamwork. Nike’s basketball division performs like a champion team on the court. Everyone covering the colleague so that the common result is achieved. Everyone wins and everyone loses. In business, in play, in life. The metaphor is spectacular.
Of course, key elements are those who never give up. Phill Knight (Ben Affleck, funny), CEO of Nike and co-founder of the company, was already a visionary when he put all the money he didn’t have into a company selling sneakers. Boldness never left his actions aside. Here he bet everything on Vaccaro’s dream and changed the industry forever.
Essential role in the film has Deloris Jordan (magnificent Viola Davis), Michael’s mother. She defines her son’s career (and decisions). Her firmness made it possible to get it right and the results are definitive.

Michael Jordan and Nike Air changed the history of the sport and are still there today exploring new paths every season. The greatest basketball player of all time is a NIKE partner for life.
