Ontem vi na Apple TV o thriller francês SWITCH, que o cineasta Frederic Schoendoerffer dirigiu em 2011.
Uma jovem canadense (Karine Vanasse) resolve usar um site de troca de apartamentos para passar uma temporada em Paris. Absolutamente deslumbrada pelo local onde vai passar algumas semanas, com vista para a Torre Eiffel, ela é surpreendida na manhã seguinte pela chegada da Polícia que diz haver um cadáver decapitado no local. Ela é presa e tem que lutar para provar sua inocência.
O Policial chefe das investigações é Eric Cantona, ex-jogador de futebol do Manchester United, que virou Produtor, Diretor e Ator nos anos recentes. Seu Damine Forgeat é ótimo em duvidar e acreditar naquela jovem desesperada que parece ter cometido uma rime brutal.
O tema do homem errado (aqui a mulher errada) já gerou inúmeros filmes, sendo a expressão máxima o clássico THE WRONG MAN, que Alfred Hitchcock dirigiu com Henry Fonda, em 1956.
Claro que em SWITCH, há muito mais correria e menos sofisticação que no clássico hitchcockiano.
Mas o thriller francês consegue plenamente cumprir seu propósito, até com certa profundidade na trama que vitima a jovem em busca de uma nova vida.
O expediente de usar a câmera na mão nas cenas de perseguições a pé pelas ruas de Paris rende ótimos momentos.
SWITCH é um ótimo thriller. Merece ser visto.
Yesterday I watched the French thriller SWITCH on Apple TV, which filmmaker Frederic Schoendoerffer directed in 2011.
A young Canadian woman (Karine Vanasse) decides to use an apartment exchange website to spend some time in Paris. Absolutely dazzled by the place where she is going to stay a few weeks, overlooking the Eiffel Tower, she is surprised the next morning by the arrival of the Police who say there is a decapitated corpse in the place. She is arrested and has to fight to prove her innocence.
The Chief Investigator is Eric Cantona, a former Manchester United footballer who has become a Producer, Director and Actor in recent years. His Damine Forgeat is great at doubting and believing in that desperate young woman who seems to have committed a brutal crime.
The theme of the wrong man (here, the wrong woman) has already spawned countless films, the ultimate expression being the classic THE WRONG MAN, which Alfred Hitchcock directed with Henry Fonda in 1956.
Of course, in SWITCH, there is much more rush and less sophistication than in the Hitchcockian classic.
But the French thriller fully manages to fulfill its purpose, even with a certain depth in the plot that victimizes the young woman in search of a new life.
The expedient of using the camera in hand in the scenes of chases on foot through the streets of Paris yields great moments.
SWITCH is a great thriller. It deserves to be seen.
