O NOW está exibindo a série britânica KAREN PIRIE, dos mesmos produtores do excepcional LINE OF DUTY.
Confesso que fui ver meio desconfiado por achar a trama meio batida. Um jovem policial é designada para reabrir a investigação de um crime ocorrido numa pequena comunidade escocesa 25 anos atrás. O motivo é a repercussão de um podcast que acusava a Polícia local de desinteresse por se tratar de um feminicídio.
A jovem DS Karen Pirie (ótimo trabalho da atriz Lauren Lyle, de OUTLANDER) encara sua nova missão como poucos iriam encarar: ir atrás do culpado por qualquer meio possível.
Ao lado dela estão seu namorado Phil Parhatka (Zack Wyatt, ótimo) e o inexperiente Jason (Chris Jenks, de SEX EDUCATION).
Como uma boa trama policial, a história vai se complicando à medida em que a investigação de Karen se aprofunda.
Aí que a série me pegou em cheio. A trama encontra caminhos surpreendentes, enfocando sexismo, homofobia, xenofobia, resistência à modernidade, provincianismo, corrupção policial, tudo muito bem embalado.
São três episódios de aproximadamente uma hora cada um.
Os personagens secundários igualmente são muito interessantes, trazendo ainda mais atratividade à história.
Já li, com muita alegria que a ITV anunciou uma segunda temporada de Karen Pirie.
Promoção mais do que merecida.

I confess that I went to see it a little suspicious because I found the plot a little repetitive. A young female police officer is assigned to reopen the investigation into a crime that took place in a small Scottish community 25 years ago. The reason is the repercussion of a podcast that accused the local Police of disinterest because it was a femicide.
Young DS Karen Pirie (great work by OUTLANDER actress Lauren Lyle) faces her new mission as few others would: go after the culprit by any means possible.
Beside her are her boyfriend Phil Parhatka (Zack Wyatt, great) and the inexperienced Jason (Chris Jenks, from SEX EDUCATION).
Like a good police plot, the story gets complicated as Karen’s investigation deepens.
That’s when the series really hit me. The plot finds surprising paths, focusing on sexism, homophobia, xenophobia, resistance to modernity, provincialism, police corruption, all very well packaged.
There are three episodes of approximately one hour each.
The secondary characters are also very interesting, bringing even more attractiveness to the story.
I’ve already read it, with great joy that ITV has announced a second season of Karen Pirie.
Promotion more than deserved.
