Quando li que a NETFLIX ia lançar um longa metragem brasileiro sobre um matador do sertão nordestino, confesso que fiquei entre intrigado e surpreso. Achei o tema pouco afeito à produtora norte-americana, mas ao mesmo tempo, fiquei interessado em ver a qualidade de produção deles em um filme daqui.
O MATADOR surpreende positivamente. É quase uma história de cordel filmada. Um western brasileiro. Tem os heróis e vilões típicos do nordeste, como “sete orelhas”, “cabeleleira”, “francês” e “corisco”. Tem morte a dar com o pau, uma mais violenta que a outra.
Mas é muito bem feito e deixa o espectador preso com os olhos na tela, sem respirar em muitas das cenas.
O roteiro endereça muitos temas interessantíssimos, como a corrupção e o coronelismo da região, mas o que mais me chamou a atenção foi a maldição que cai sobre quem se deixa enfeitiçar pela “turmalina azul” que tudo compra.
No elenco a atriz portuguesa Maria de Medeiros, Diogo Morgado, Deto Montenegro, Nill Marcondes, Marat Descartes, Etienne Chico, Mel Lisboa, Paulo Gorgulho e Daniela Galli. A direção é de Marcelo Galvão, de A DESPEDIDA e COLEGAS. Acho que está subindo filme a filme.
O MATADOR é um belo filme, com muito “penso” por trás.
When I read that NETFLIX was going to release a Brazilian feature film about a killer from the northeastern, I confess I was intrigued and surprised. I found the theme unreliable to the American producer, but at the same time, I was interested in seeing their production quality in a film here.
THE KILLER surprises positively It’s almost a “cordel” filmed. A Brazilian western. It has the heroes and villains typical of the northeast, like “seven ears”, “cabeleleira”, “French” and “corisco”. There is a lot of death, one more violent than the other.
But it is very well done and leaves the viewer stuck with his eyes on the screen, without breathing in many of the scenes.
The script addresses many interesting topics, such as corruption and coronelism in the region, but what struck me most was the curse that falls on who is allowed to bewitch by the “blue tourmaline” that buys everything.
In the cast the Portuguese actress Maria de Medeiros, Diogo Morgado, Deto Montenegro, Nill Marcondes, Marat Descartes, Etienne Chico, Mel Lisboa, Paulo Gorgulho and Daniela Galli. The direction is of Marcelo Galvão, of THE FAREWELL and COLEGAS. I think it’s going up film to film.
The MATADOR is a beautiful film, with a lot of “I think” behind.
