O ator irlandês Liam Neeson fez filmes extraordinários em sua carreira. A LISTA DE SCHINDLER, de Steven Spielberg, na minha opinião, é, de longe, o melhor de todos. Mas há KINSEY, ROB ROY, STAR WARS A AMEAÇA FANTASMA, GANGUES DE NOVA IORQUE, SIMPLESMENTE AMOR e BATMAN BEGINS (com os outros de Christopher Nolan sobre o Homem Morcego), todos obras cinematográficas de alto nível, em que Neeson mostrou seu talento.
Nos últimos anos, onde optou por escolher personagens de ação fez alguns filmes razoáveis (DESCONHECIDO) mas teve péssimas escolhas como ESQUADRÃO CLASSE A, A PERSEGUIÇÃO ou SEM ESCALAS.
Este LEGADO EXPLOSIVO (HONEST THIEF), de Mark Williams entra de cabeça na lista dos pontos negativos da carreira de Liam Neeson. O roteiro é tão ruim e tão cheio de furos na história que seria impossível ele originar um bom filme.
Um ex-mariner que vive como ladrão de bancos (especialista em explosivos) se apaixona por uma estudante de medicina da Boston College e resolve abandonar a carreira e devolver todo o dinheiro que roubou em um acordo com o FBI. O acordo dá errado e ele passa a ser suspeito da morte de um veterano e respeitado agente do Bureau, o que põe Neeson na trilha de ação ininterrupta (e sem inteligência) de seus mais recentes trabalhos.
Há coisas inacreditáveis no filme, como o agente do FBI que recebe a cadelinha em seu divórcio litigioso (era para ser engraçado?) ou a revelação de que o protagonista assaltou bancos durante sete anos sem gastar um dolar sequer, porque fazia aquilo pela adrenalina apenas.
Kate Walsh, Jai Courtney, Jeffrey Donovan, Anthony Ramos e Robert Patrick brigam contra o roteiro, perdendo a luta.
LEGADO EXPLOSIVO deve ser evitado. Tomara que o recém anunciado MARLOWE (baseado no romance de Benjamin Black) marque uma recuperação na carreira de Neeson.
Irish actor Liam Neeson has made extraordinary films in his career. Steven Spielberg‘s SCHINDLER LIST, in my opinion, is by far the best of all. But there are KINSEY, ROB ROY, STAR WARS THE PHANTOM MENACE, GANGS OF NEW YORK, LOVE ACTUALLY and BATMAN BEGINS (with Christopher Nolan‘s others on the Batman), all high-profile cinematic works, in which Neeson showed his talent.
In the last few years, where he chose to choose action characters, he made some reasonable films (UNKNOWN and A WALK AMONG THE TOMBSTONES) but had terrible choices such as THE A TEAM, THE GREY and THE COMMUTER.
This HONEST THIEF, by Mark Williams goes into the list of negative points in Liam Neeson’s career. The script is so bad and so full of holes in the story that it would be impossible for it to make a good film.
A former mariner who lives as a bank robber (being an explosives specialist) falls in love with a medical student at Boston College and decides to abandon his career and return all the money he stole under an agreement with the FBI. The deal goes awry and he becomes suspicious of the death of a veteran and respected Bureau agent, which puts Neeson on the trail of uninterrupted (and unintelligent) action in his most recent work.
There are unbelievable things in the film, like the FBI agent who receives the puppy in his litigious divorce (was it supposed to be funny?) or the revelation that the protagonist robbed banks for seven years without spending a single dollar, because he did that just for the adrenaline.
Kate Walsh, Jai Courtney, Jeffrey Donovan, Anthony Ramos and Robert Patrick fight against the script, losing the fight.
HONEST THIEF should be avoided. I hope the recently announced MARLOWE (based on the novel by Benjamin Black) marks a recovery in Neeson’s career. <
