O filme BELLE ÉPOQUE esteve na lista dos melhores do ano, que meu amigo Flavio Balestreri publicou aqui no Cinemarco, em dezembro de 2020.
Somente ontem fui ver o filme em cartaz na HBO MAX.
É maravilhoso. Um verdadeiro ensaio sobre onde nascem as paixões e os amores.
Um desenhista cinquentão tem um casamento frio e monótono com uma psiquiatra. Ele não se conforme com a passagem do tempo e todas as modernidades da vida atual. Não tem celular, discute com o GPS do Tesla da esposa, odeia streaming e os jornais que viraram eletrônicos.
Os dois filhos deles trabalham em uma empresa que cria espetáculos cênicos para pessoas que se dispõem a pagar para viver, ainda que por pouco tempo, em outras épocas.
Quando os pais se separam, os filhos enviam um convite a ele, indagando em que época em quereria viver. Ele escolhe 1974, no bar em que conheceu a mãe deles.
O elenco é incrível. Daniel Auteuil esbanja talento no papel do protagonista Victor Drummond. Fanny Ardant, sempre incrível é Mariane, a esposa insatisfeita. Guillaume Canet, um dos principais atores franceses da atualidade vive o obcecado e perfeccionista diretor dos espetáculos, Antoine. E Michael Cohen é seu irmão Maxime.
Mas quem rouba o filme, na minha opinião é a atriz francesa Doria Tillier, vivendo Margot, a atriz que irá encarnar a versão jovem de Mariane. Seu trabalho, em inúmeros papéis é simplesmente deslumbrante. O mescla do espetáculo proporcionado a Victor com o andamento do romance da vida real dela com Antoine, proporciona a Doria um trabalho incrível, cheio de sutilezas, nuances e diferenças, boa parte do charme do filme.
O diretor francês Nicolas Bedos já tinha mostrado talento em trabalhos como Mr. & Mrs. Adelman, mas aqui se supera, construindo uma verdadeira poesia sobre a passagem do tempo em nossas vidas. Tudo com uma sensibilidade rara de se ver.
O filme ainda tem uma trilha sonora maravilhosa, pontuada de canções francesas românticas, rock dos anos setenta e uma extraordinária versão de POR UNA CABEZA, com o conjunto QuinTango. Billie Holliday, Burt Bacharach, Alain Souchon e até uma música cantada pela atriz Doria Tillier.
Há muitas piadas e cenas engraçadas em BELLE EPOQUE. Mas o tom geral é de nostalgia, quase melancolia.
Por tudo isso, BELLE ÉPOQUE é um filme para ser visto e sentido profundamente. Como sempre, o Flavio Balestreri tinha razão.

Only yesterday I went to see the movie on HBO MAX.
It is wonderful. A true essay on where and how passions and loves are born.
A cartoonist in his fifties has a cold and monotonous marriage to a psychiatrist. He does not conform with the passage of time and all the modernities of current life. He doesn’t have a cell phone, he argues with his wife’s Tesla GPS, he hates streaming and newspapers turned electronic.
Their two children work in a company that creates scenic shows for people who are willing to pay a lot of money to live, albeit for a short time, at other times.
When the parents separate, the children send him an invitation, asking him when he would like to live. He chooses 1974, at the bar where he met their mother.
The cast is incredible. Daniel Auteuil exudes talent in the role of the protagonist Victor Drummond. Fanny Ardant, always amazing is Mariane, the dissatisfied wife. Guillaume Canet, one of the main French actors today, lives the obsessed and perfectionist director of the shows, Antoine. And Michael Cohen is his brother Maxime.
But who steals the film, in my opinion, is the French actress Doria Tillier, playing Margot, the actress who will embody the young version of Mariane. Her work in countless roles is simply stunning. The mixture of the spectacle provided to Victor with the progress of her real-life romance with Antoine, provides Doria with an incredible work, full of subtleties, nuances and differences, much of the charm of the film.
French director Nicolas Bedos had already shown talent in works such as Mr. & Mrs. Adelman, but here it surpasses itself, building a true poetry about the passage of time in our lives. All with a rare sensitivity to see.
The film still has a wonderful soundtrack, punctuated with romantic French songs, seventies rock and an extraordinary version of POR UNA CABEZA, with the QuinTango ensemble. Billie Holliday, Burt Bacharach, Alain Souchon and even a song sung by actress Doria Tillier.
There are many jokes and funny scenes in BELLE EPOQUE. But the general tone is one of nostalgia, almost melancholy.
For all these reasons, BELLE ÉPOQUE is a film to be seen and deeply felt. As always, Flavio Balestreri was right.
