O HULU está exibindo a série original do FX, intitulada O PACIENTE.
Steve Carell – que segue melhorando trabalho a trabalho – faz o papel do psiquiatra Alan Strauss, um veterano terapêuta ainda traumatizado pela morte recente da esposa, que é sequestrado por um paciente serial killer que quer ser tratado 24 horas por dia.
Algemado a uma cama no porão da casa do maluquete, Alan tem que dar um jeito de convencer o assassino em série Sam Fortner (o ator irlandês Domhnall Gleeson) a soltá-lo como parte de seu processo de cura das tendências homicidas do paciente.
São 10 capítulos nesta primeira temporada.
Já vi dois deles e é inegável que a originalidade do roteiro (lembra um pouco o ótimo MISERY) faz com que a gente fique ansioso pelo próximo capítulo e como Alan vai sair dessa.
Tenho vários amigos que são fanáticos pelo trabalho de Steve Carell desde a série THE OFFICE, um grande sucesso do início da carreira dele. Eu tenho achado que nos tempos recentes, onde ele deu uma guinada na carreira fazendo papéis dramáticos, Carell vem crescendo muito. Em THE MORNING SHOW, ele fez um Mitch Kessler ao mesmo tempo predador e afetuoso. Um baita trabalho. Aqui, o psiquiatra Strauss parece ir no mesmo caminho.

Steve Carell – who continues to improve work by work – plays psychiatrist Alan Strauss, a veteran therapist still traumatized by the recent death of his wife, who is kidnapped by a serial killer patient who wants to be treated 24 hours a day.
Handcuffed to a bed in the basement of the madman’s house, Alan has to find a way to convince serial killer Sam Fortner (Irish actor Domhnall Gleeson) to release him as part of his process of healing the patient’s homicidal tendencies.
There are 10 chapters in this first season.
I’ve seen two of them and it’s undeniable that the originality of the script (reminds a little of the great movie MISERY) makes us look forward to the next chapter and how Alan will get out of it.
I have several friends who have been fanatical about Steve Carell’s work since THE OFFICE series, a huge hit early in his career. I have found that in recent times, where he has taken a career turn in dramatic roles, Carell has grown a lot. In THE MORNING SHOW, he played a predatory and affectionate Mitch Kessler. A hell of a job. Here, psychiatrist Strauss seems to be going down the same path.
I’m going to see THE PATIENT again.
I really want to know how the difficult relationship between the kidnaped psychiatrist and his serial killer patient ends.
