SEDUÇÃO (CRACKS), filme que a diretora de curta metragens inglesa Jordan Scott rodou sob a batuta de seu Pai Ridley Scott (Produtor do Filme) é um drama muito interessante, baseado no livro de Sheila Kohler, narrando uma história de um colégio interno de moças ricas, St. Mathilda’s School em Stanley Island, Inglaterra, durante a década de 30. O maior orgulho da escola e das meninas é a equipe de natação, conduzida com rigor invulgar pela Professora Miss G (a atriz francesa Eva Green, sempre uma presença cênica maravilhosa). A chegada de uma menina espanhola independente e contestadora, Fiamma (a atriz madrilenha Maria Valverde) traz conflitos e ciúmes, que levam as colegas a tentar excluí-la do time (e da escola) através de um bullying feroz.
Imogen Poots, Juno Temple e Ellie Nun lideram as alunas invejosas, compondo um elenco que a diretora Scott conduz com inesperada segurança e brilho. O filme está na Apple TV+.

Stephen Holden, no THE NEW YORK TIMES escreveu sobre CRACKS: “De origem espanhola aristocrática, Fiamma é um espírito independente que não luta para se encaixar no grupo e parece mais ou menos imune à hostilidade de seus membros quando a atacam. Misteriosa e desapegada, ela se comporta com um certo hauteur e deixa claro que só está esperando um tempo em um lugar que não quer. A hierarquia é abalada no momento em que Fiamma sobe na torre de mergulho e executa um salto perfeito que eleva a barra para toda a equipe e deixa a srta. G impressionada de admiração. Mas Fiamma fica indiferente quando a srta. G a adota como sua nova favorita e busca uma amizade íntima com um abandono cada vez mais imprudente. O destino de Fiamma como pária é selado quando Di, consumida de ciúmes, inscreve os outros membros da equipe em uma campanha para expulsá-la da escola. “Sedução” é uma pequena história escrita muito grande. Com seus interiores sombrios e fotos de rostos nas garras da obsessão, ela beira um filme de terror. As forças demoníacas explodem durante uma festa em que Fiamma desmaia depois de beber muito vinho.”
Inveja, amor, carinho, ódio, sensualidade, luta, derrota, emoções, tudo de humano que aparece em grupos, está em SEDUÇÃO. É um ótimo filme.
CRACKS, a film that British short film director Jordan Scott shot under the baton of her Father Ridley Scott (Film Producer) is a very interesting drama, based on the book by Sheila Kohler, narrating a story of a boarding school for wealthy girls, St. Mathilda’s School in Stanley Island, England, during the 1930s. The greatest pride of the school and the girls is the elite swimming team, conducted with unusual rigor by Professor Miss G (French actress Eva Green , always a wonderful scenic presence). The arrival of an independent and defiant Spanish girl, Fiamma (the Madrid born actress Maria Valverde) brings conflicts and jealousy, which lead colleagues to try to exclude her from the team (and the school) through ferocious bullying.
Imogen Poots, Juno Temple and Ellie Nun lead the envious students, composing a cast that director Scott leads with unexpected safety and brilliance.
The script, by Jordan Scott (along with Ben Court and Caroline Ip) has wonderful dialogues and scenes. Just to name one of them: “Miss G: Girls, we are angels, eagles! To dive is to fly. Set yourself free of the shackles of conformity. Let nothing hold you back except the air itself. You are between heaven and earth. The rules no longer apply.”
Stephen Holden, on THE NEW YORK TIMES wrote about CRACKS: “From an aristocratic Spanish background, Fiamma is an independent spirit who doesn’t struggle to fit in with the group and seems more or less immune to its members’ hostility when they turn on her. Mysterious and detached, she comports herself with a certain hauteur and lets it be known that she is only biding her time at a place she doesn’t want to be. The hierarchy is shaken the moment Fiamma climbs the diving tower and executes a perfect somersault that raises the bar for the entire team and leaves Miss G dumbstruck with admiration. But Fiamma is indifferent when Miss G adopts her as her new favorite and pursues an intimate friendship with an increasingly reckless abandon. Fiamma’s fate as an outcast is sealed when Di, consumed with jealousy, enlists the other team members in a campaign to drive her out of the school.“Cracks” is a small story writ very large. With its shadowy interiors and shots of faces in the grip of obsession, it verges on a horror film. The demonic forces explode during a party at which Fiamma passes out after drinking too much wine.”
Envy, love, affection, hate, sensuality, struggle, defeat, emotions, everything human that appears in groups, is in CRACKS. It’s a great movie.
