Ontem vi na HBO MAX, o filme THE KID DETECTIVE, dirigido pelo americano Evan Morgan, usual diretor de clips musicais e curtas metragens.
Adam Brody (ainda lutando para se firmar) vive o jovem Abe Applebaum, um menino que desde criança se destacou em sua pequena comunidade por desvendar pequenos mistérios que os amiguinhos lhe contratavam (por moedas) para resolver. Um dia, o Diretor da Escola contrata o menino detetive para descobrir quem roubou o “caixinha” de uma turma. Depois de rápida investigação ele aponta como culpado o valentão da escola, que é expulso e cai na marginalidade.
A fama do jovem só crescia até que a filha do Prefeito é raptada. A Polícia não descobre nem o culpado, nem a menina. O jovem detetive vira a esperança dos locais. Mas os anos passam e ele não descobre nada. Cai em desgraça.
Certo dia, uma jovem vem procurá-lo para desvendar o assassinato de seu namorado, um estudante oriental exemplar que foi assassinado a facadas, sem nenhuma pista deixada pelo criminoso.
Confesso que até ali, eu estava meio entediado porque o enredo era adolescente demais.
Neste ponto, o filme dá uma competente guinada.
O caso passa a ser a “segunda chance” de Abe Applebaum. Ele mergulha de cabeça no caso e, para surpresa geral é desvendado de forma magistral.
A ótima Sophie Nélisse vive a cliente redentora do detetive. Há uma ótima secretária dark e mal humorada feita por Sarah Sutherland, filha de Kiefer e neta de Donald. A menina tem pedigree.
THE KID DETECTIVE é um bom filme. Arrisca alguma ousadia na solução final do caso. Gostei de ver e recomendo uma olhada, especialmente para quem curte histórias de P.I.s.
Yesterday I saw the movie THE KID DETECTIVE on HBO MAX, directed by the American Evan Morgan, usual director of music videos and short films.
Adam Brody (still struggling to get his footing) plays young Abe Applebaum, a boy who since he was a child stood out in his small community for unraveling little mysteries that his friends hired him (for coins) to solve. One day, the School Principal hires the boy detective to find out who stole the “little money” from a class. After a quick investigation, he points out the school bully as the culprit, who is expelled and becomes marginalized.
The young man’s fame only grew until the Mayor’s daughter is kidnapped. The police find neither the culprit nor the girl. The young detective becomes the hope of the locals. But the years go by and he finds nothing. He falls from grace.
One day, a young woman comes looking for him to solve the murder of her boyfriend, an exemplary oriental student who was stabbed to death, with no clue left by the criminal.
I confess that until then, I was a little bored because the plot was too teenage.
At this point, the film takes a competent turn.
The case becomes Abe Applebaum’s “second chance”. He dives headfirst into the case and, to everyone’s surprise, is masterfully unraveled.
The great Sophie Nélisse plays the detective’s redeeming client. There’s a great dark and moody secretary made by Sarah Sutherland, daughter of Kiefer and granddaughter of Donald. The girl has a outstanding pedigree.
THE KID DETECTIVE is a good movie. Risk some boldness in the final solution of the case. I enjoyed seeing it and recommend a look, especially for those who enjoy P.I.s. stories.
